I moved to Natchez after college for love, and became a school teacher. 13 years in love, 9 years living here now. We have one child, 7 years old, and found out today that we’re expecting another. We’ve tried for this and couldn’t be more excited.
My husband is the man only dreams are made of-supportive, kind, fun and loving! He comes from a large catholic family. They’re nice enough, but a lot of selfishness and being ugly to one another. So I care for them, but try to stay out of the way for the most part. His parents are wonderful!
I was back home in my hometown, about an hour away when I got the positive pregnancy result today. Went around to my family members, surprising them and recording their reactions. So much love, laughter and excitement. I rushed home after a week away to tell my husband that we’re indeed expecting. He was wonderful and crying excited with me. But that was it.
There wasn’t the GRAND parade of family members behind him that I had grown accustomed to. Just ourselves and our son- we call us the 3 musketeers.
Later this evening, laying in bed, I became overwhelmed with feelings of loneliness and grief stricken homesickness. Yes I’ve cried about being away from my family before, but always managed to drive the distance, have a quick visit and heal quickly.
This time- I’m not sure that will suffice. I’m so incredibly sad that I don’t have my family here with me to experience the pregnancy, and to just love me for me, quite frankly. They’re only an hour away, and a part of me knows that’s not so bad- but man ole man does it still hurt.
I’ve tried making friends. But they just don’t compare to mom dad uncles aunts and cousins. Writing to see if I’m alone in my loneliness- does it get better? Can I do this on my own, just the 3 musketeers? 😢
