Hi all- need some advice as I’m so confused by all of this!! First time being pregnant …think I’m 6weeks? I’ve had 2 scans and loads of blood tests ! Hcg levels are slowly coming down ..had a big bleed went to a&e levels last Monday were 1422- then 1203 then 1117 and now they are 953? They are saying PUL ..had my second scan today nothing in my womb ? Is it because I’m too early ..no sign of ectopic ..which is good ,no bleeding internally and I feel well in myself but I’m so confused? Anyone experienced this? Need some answers because the doctors don’t seem to know what’s going on either???

What does PUL mean?

By your decreasing numbers it sounds like a chemical pregnancy unfortunately

Heyha · 12/07/2021 16:44

Kindly, I think if your HCG is coming down and they couldn't see anything in your womb this one wasn't meant to be and you've passed it, HCG takes a while to reduce.

I'd love to be wrong but that's the simplest explanation, if it was PUL would your levels be going up still?

Garman · 12/07/2021 16:46

Yes it sounds like a chemical pregnancy or very early miscarriage or similar, sorry.

Purple21 · 12/07/2021 16:46

Sadly sounds like a chemical or MMC with you bleeding a lot you may have passed it then.
I'm very sorry your going through this, DRs should have advised and spoke about either of these tbh.

Pregnancy of unknown location… PUL! Why are they still testing my bloods!!? Obviously I guess they need to monitor these things! He never mentioned chemical pregnancy which is annoying.. but said maybe to early to tell? Guess this isn’t good then ladies? U see stories that say U might be able to see sad at week 8? All so
Confusing isn’t it

I saw a heartbeat at week 7+5 days and I think I saw a sac at 6+5.

I do think the decrease in HCG is really not a good sign. I'm sorry. I hope it is good news but if I were you I'd prepare for it to have been a chemical :(

Purple21 · 12/07/2021 16:56

Being 6 weeks you would deffo see something I'm afraid. Not exactly the HB but sac/yolk/fetal pole.
They'll keep doing bloods until you hit 0, also for your health to ensure there's no retained tissue.

It's a minefield to get your round op and esp when things haven't been explained to you by professionals!

When your next in for bloods I'd be asking alot!

Thank you so much.. this has really helped! I think they are too afraid to say or give hope! They did say I might have miscarried last week but unsure? 50/50 about ectopic but highly unlikely ..said let’s just monitor you & go from there really! I am aware & have already prepared for the worst.. I’m not hopeful now at all esp after today. But on the plus side at least we can get pregnant. Also I have mentioned and asked them to test my progesterone levels as when we are trying they were super low! Would this be a reason why I miscarried or am I over thinking things?

Generally the majority of miscarriage happens due to something up with the fertislized egg itself. Like a glitch in the DNA or something that just doesn't make it feasible.

If it's any consolation I had a chemical early Feb and was pregnant again by end of feb

Horehound - I thought you have to wait 3 months to start again!? Obviously I am totally wrong … we will defiantly try for another! And have fun trying again!

No not at all! They do advise a month so you have a period but that's more so for dating. So entirely up to you. Sorry your going through this I hope you get answers.

I think that Kay be of you are much further along but a chemical is so so early your womb hasn't changed much.

I couldn't believe it when I got the pregnancy test again though saying positive. I was still breastfeeding and had only had two periods months apart so had no idea what my cycle was. Ovulated twice in the month!
