Do baby kicks hurt?

Hi! I'm 27 weeks pregnant with my first baby and although I'm feeling loads of movement it's completely painless so far. I've heard other people saying that baby kicks can be very painful though so I'm just wondering is this the case for everyone and if so, at what stage do they normally start to hurt?

Sometimes they can. We've had big strong babies, our son kicked me so hard he'd knock the air out of my lungs (he was huge). I got a UTI and every move this little one made was quite painful for several days until the meds started to work.

I got a lot of pretty painful jabs around 30 weeks and now 34 weeks she’s too big to kick or punch so it’s more big stretches and rolls which can be uncomfortable but much more pleasant. Different babies, different bodies, different sensations!

Oh and when the lower of our twins turned breech it felt like she was using my hips as resistance bands. That wasn't the best feeling.

Never hurt me.
It was lovely and made me laugh.
I had more disturbance with my youngest getting hiccups a lot Smile

I remember my ds nearly winding me one day by kicking me in the lungs, in the middle of a meeting! It was during a presentation and I just suddenly went 'oooofff' Blush

It's not pain so much as significant discomfort really.

Both of mine frequently seemed set on John Hurting their way out of me.

Mine have hurt both times and from quite early on too depending on positioning. But I'm autistic so in fairness my perception of the sensory experience of it is likely quite different to most people's.

I never had any painful kicks. It was lovely. Just heartburn for a while, which was uncomfortable (but Gaviscon sorted it).

They can definitely be uncomfortable. I had twins so they were very squashed up in there. I got kicked in the arse or bladder from the inside many times, and sometimes poked under the ribs which felt like my ribs being poked with a knitting needle!

Yes they can hurt.
This is my third pregnancy. My first would often push her feet up from under my ribs.
My second, I had no pain with his movements.
This one likes to push upwards as if it’s trying to escape through my belly button and that can be a little painful. Nothing like those rib pushes though. I worried she might snap a rib on occasion.

I'm 28 weeks and my baby kicks and shoves loads - not normally painful
But had a moment last night where it was a bit uncomfortable!!
