Hi I’m 29+3 I’ve just received my 28 week blood results back.
My hemoglobin level was 143.00 but now it’s at 121.00 they’re saying I’m not anaemic etc, but I’ve never felt so ill I was wondering if anyone else had ever experienced a drop in there levels but it was just one of those things sort of thing, any advice would be appreciated!

I highly recommend spatone for some gentle iron supplementation. You can add it to orange juice and have up to 2 sachets a day. It really helped in my last pregnancy but will take a couple of weeks to work.

@AliceThroughTheLookingGlass thank you so much, midwife and doctors don’t seem to concerned but just sucks when you feel rubbish and something is visibly going on 😫

Your Hb certainly isn't anaemic but do you know what your MCH is? If it's less than 27pg then it would definitely be worth trying what the PP said to get some iron into you.

Mine is almost exactly the same numbers. That was at 34 weeks and I don’t get it checked again til 38 weeks so I feel like I know for definite I will be low by the time they check it again. Im taking pregnacare max which has all the iron I should need so Im put off taking iron on top of this 😕

Haemoglobin drops as part of the normal physiology of pregnancy - yours is normal. You can still be iron deficient with a normal Hb and it may be worth exploring if you think you may be iron deficient.

Thank you so much for your replies, I’m not sure what my mch is. I did have low folate and vitamin d levels at the start of my pregnancy so I did wonder if maybe it’s that, I do take multivitamins but defo up for trying anything at this moment in time to feel a bit more normal than constantly tired, faint and just so run down 😫

Mine was 122 and is now at 115. My midwife is happy that it’s still in normal levels but did advise I have 2 spatone sachets a day.

My consultant however will likely put me on iron tablets as I’m having a c section and had said she didn’t want my levels to drop below the 122 they were at.
