Hi guys.
Today I would be 7 weeks and 3 days.
I had a ultrasound today (paid privately) they said they see no fetus but I had a thickened lining (13mm)...
I took a pregnancy test straight after and got a strong positive.
I’m worried I might be having a ectopic pregnancy it pregnancy in an unknown location.
Any help or advice?
Thank u so much xxSmileFlowers

The strong test means nothing unfortunately, other than that your body has the amount of hormones to register on the test. Contact your hospital or gp for referral to epu.

I am sorry you are going through this.

Can you call your local early pregnancy unit (EPU) to scan you and check? If you went to one of the “reassurance scans”, they may not be qualified to check anything other than a heartbeat.

I got the ectopic pregnancy scare because of one sided pain and the EUP booked me for a scan the same day. It turned out it was all ok.

There are several reasons for “unknown location”, see here www.kch.nhs.uk/Doc/pl%20-%20630.3%20-%20pregnancy%20of%20an%20unknown%20location.pdf

I had a miscarriage last year and they wrote unknown location but I also had a negative test after that and was bleeding so completely different.

I hope it all turns out ok.

@Milini
I had a “well-being and dating scan”
I called 111 and have to contact my gp tommrow I’m assuming blood tests are next to check my hcg levels. Confused I went through light spotting 2 weeks ago (would’ve been 6 weeks 4 days preg) and was told I would likely miscarry but nothing happened since then.
I’m sorry this happened to you and I hope things go well for both of us SadFlowers

Good luck tomorrow! Give them a call in the morning and hopefully they can see you the same day. If you have no luck with the GP try the EPU directly. Some don’t require referrals from the GP.

I have had pregnancy of unknown location twice. Both started with bleeding.
Unfortunately with the first it didn't progress and nothing was on early scan and I did unfortunately have a miscarriage.
With my 2nd there was a small 'possible' sack on the ultrasound but nothing definite. I am now 29 weeks pregnant with that baby.

Blood tests were what determined what was happening with both pregnancies x

Hi, I’m new to this group but feel like I needed to join to ask some questions that I’m worrying about.

I went for a scan Thursday and also an internal. They couldn’t find anything so said it was pregnancy if unknown location. They took my HCG levels which came back around 440. I went back today to have them done again and just waiting for the results. When I had the ultrasound they said that my lining was thick. So far I haven’t had any bleeding or pain. Just wondering if anyone has had the same before and continued with a healthy pregnancy. From my first day of last period it works out I am around 5 week. However doing a digital test on Monday this stated 2-3 weeks. And I believe my date of conception was the 1st. I’ve suffered miscarriages in the past so I’m worrying a bit now.

TIA x

Hi there,

I’m hoping someone might be able to help. I tested 1-2 positive with clear blue digital tests on Christmas Day! I’ve a 5 week cycle so knew I was probably more on the earlier side. Five days later, I had dull abdominal pain, cervical mucus with a tinge of brown. As I’ve had three previous miscarriages I went straight to the ER. The doctor confirmed my cervix was open and removed what she termed as a ‘clot’ or ‘part of the pregnancy’ but sent it off to the labs. HcG came back as 115 and 48 hours later 130 and another 48 hours 147. On the second and third trip for bloods both nurses said it may just be too early and may not be a bad thing. Today, an ultrasound couldn’t find anything so they opted for another transvaginal exam which also showed nothing, however lining was consistent with pregnancy. They gave me three potential outcomes, one of which is ectopic pregnancy, however, they could not find an ectopic pregnancy on the scan either. I’m so exhausted and have to go back again for bloods tomorrow where they said they’d make the call as to whether it’s a viable pregnancy or not. My concern is, while it may be ectopic, they can’t seem to confirm it via scan, and I don’t want to take the medical management until this is confirmed as it means I can’t TTC again for 6 months. We’ve been TTC for 2 years now and if this is another miscarriage the only thing getting me through is the thoughts of possibly conceiving again soon, which won’t happen with medical management. Has anyone any experience similar to this? (I know there are a lot of a variables here!), I just feel like I’m getting so many mixed messages from the hospital.

Thank you all.

Hi @Tatii1501 can I ask what your outcome was please? I have gone in for an early scan today and nothing could be seen and my HCG was also 440, have to have it taken again in 48 hours. X
