Hi all,
I'm 32 weeks pregnant and just tested positive fo COVID.
Has anyone else been through this?
Just looking for some reassurance as I keep worrying about baby.
So far my symptoms are very mild- just tired and a bit of a sore throat.
Thanks in advance xx

I had covid in January at 31 weeks, I ended up in hospital on oxygen for a week. I was worried but the maternity team was amazing and kept calling to see if I had any worries even whilst in hospital. We were both fine, didn't need intervention. I had a csection but for a complete different reason at 39 weeks.
I am now sat cuddling my sleepy nearly 4 month old Smile
Take it easy and don't be afraid to call your midwife department if you have any worries Smile

indigo27 · 09/07/2021 11:10

@GAW19 glad you're both ok that's good to hear!!
Why did you end up on oxygen if you don't mind me asking, did you have shortness of breath? Xxx

I started with just a headache, but within a day I could hardly breath, couldn't move, was shaking like mad. I was on antibiotics, steroids, fluids, oxygen and potassium I believe.
I had one lot of paramedics refuse to take me for 'normal pregnancy symptoms' Hmm so we rung back, the operator was fuming. Really wasn't happy with the paramedics. When I got to A&E they checked my stats and within 3 mins I was on oxygen because of how low it was. I had 3 friends who were pregnant at the same time as me, they had it too but were all totally fine Smile

I haven't but I just wanted to stay to mind yourself and get well soon. Try not to worry, covid is so different for everyone. Flowers

I have two friends that contracted covid at 30+ plus weeks.
One was poorly for a week/10 days. But nothing that needed hospital treatment. She did have to inject blood thinners for 10 days after as a precaution. She has just given birth to a lovely healthy baby girl.

The other ended up in hospital on oxygen very close to her due date. She had a C section as she was very weak. Her and baby had to stay in for 8 days with dad not being allowed into the hospital at all, but 4 months on, it's a distant memory and both have no lasting effects.

I tested positive a couple of days ago. I'm only 7w and I've been double jabbed, so it looks like I'm only having mild symptoms at the moment (stuffy nose, headache, slight cough) I did have a slight fever to start with but kept that down with paracetamol and plenty of fluids. Doctor didn't seem to worried. It's only been 3 days but hopefully it won't get any worse. I am finding it difficult to differentiate between COVID and pregnancy symptoms though lol

Hello OP, no advice to give but just empathy, I am 38+4 and have it too. Felt rubbish for last few days but a bit better now. The junior doctor I spoke to last night seemed totally Unfussed about it and reassured me it would be fine. Have they mentioned blood thinners to you (this might be an older mother thing) and also getting hold of an oxygen metre to reassure yourself that you are getting enough. The consultant advised me loads of people have them from the first wave so worth asking around. Take care of yourself and I hope you continue to have only mild symptoms.

indigo27 · 09/07/2021 18:16

Hi @puddingandpie123 yes they did mention blood thinners which freaked me out!!
Apparently the hospital will call me Monday to do a risk assessment- do you know what causes you to need them? Xx

I had assumed with me it was being ancient (I’m 39 and 11/12ths). The consultant didn’t mention them on the phone this afternoon and I’ve just emailed her to ask what the deal is. I am being induced (for non covid reasons) on Monday and they have to be stopped before this so there may be not enough time. I got the impression it was out of an abundance of caution to please try not to stress between now and Monday.I was reassured by being offered them and now not knowing what the deal is I am resorting to drinking a load of water which they have also advised to help avoid blood clots. My poor bladder is taking a beating.

SS123456 · 10/07/2021 07:22

I had it at 6 weeks pregnant and was ill for around 5-6 weeks. I'm 33 weeks now and all is well with myself and baby 😊

indigo27 · 10/07/2021 12:06

@SS123456 did you have to have the blood thinners or were you all ok ? Glad to hear you and baby are all good xx

I was was put on blood thinners anyway when I found out I was pregnant (Fragmin injections) due to my history of blood clots.

Frenchie99 · 10/07/2021 12:29

Hi,

Yep currently have Covid. I believe it's the Delta variant, as that's the one which is spreading so quickly at the mo, and has symptoms including runny nose. (Our friends didn't think they had Covid as their lateral flow tests were negative - so was mine (!) but the PCR showed Covid.)

Started with tight chest, cough and headaches, then went to runny nose and now have no taste/smell. I'm 22 weeks pregnant. I can feel the baby moving about lots, so I'm not too worried. Just making sure I get enough sleep. The midwife never returned my calls/messages RE Covid so I assume I'm ok just to carry on as I am!

Hope you're not feeling too rough with it. (I haven't had any vaccinations yet btw).

SS123456 · 11/07/2021 08:59

@indigo27 I wasn't given anything at all, just left to it. The gp didn't seem all that fussed about it

Prayingforamiracle2021 · 11/07/2021 14:03

I tested positive yesterday currently 26 weeks pregnant
Symptoms - aching all over , slight cough and runny nose - I can still taste and smell.
I am already on blood thinners due to low protein S syndrome
Baby boy is moving around lots and lots which fills me with reassurance 😊
Isolation period is going to drive me mad - I am a very much on the go person but il make it through.
Wishing you all the best ❤️

Ava50x · 11/07/2021 21:37

I had it when I was 7 weeks pregnant, currently 33 weeks.
It totally knocked me out, I was flat out for 3 weeks. And i think I have long covid with lingering weakness, shortness of breath and loss of smell.
Hope you're OK op.

hotcoco1 · 15/07/2021 19:44

Today is my last day of isolation i am 28 weeks on Sunday. Midwife wasn't bothered when i spoke to her just said rest bla bla. Ive been fine just run down. My SL has now just tested positive and is a few days behind me and been prescribed blood thinners. When i googled it an NHS article came up about everyone being prescribed them. Is that correct information have you all been prescribed them and I am missing something?

Prayingforamiracle2021 · 15/07/2021 19:57

Last day of isolation for me - gosh it’s been a hard graft getting through it - still can’t smell but other than that feeling human again 🙌🏻

indigo27 · 15/07/2021 21:55

@hotcoco1 I'm still waiting for a call from the hospital as they said they do a risk assessment for blood thinners. When I called the pregnancy advice line to tell them I had COVID they said someone would call to do a risk assessment- that was a week ago!
I've called the hospital twice this week and no one seems to know what I'm talking about- I'm really confused!!

I've just tested positive at 29 weeks. How long did all your symptoms last? I currently just feel generally unwell and have a high temp of around 38. So worried it's going to get worse though! I was due my second vaccine tomorrow as well!

Strange🤷🏼‍♀️i assume if it was that big of a deal staff in hosp would be on top of it. Hope you feel better💙

How's everyone that's tested positive for covid during pregnancy managed? I'm 27 weeks tomorrow and been very short of breath and fatigued, I've only had one dose of the vaccine and was due my second on Saturday but had to postpone. I have had covid before pregnancy but that was over 90 days ago, I feel hugely worried about me and baby 😣
