Internal Scan

Really quick question - I have an internal scan on Monday to check for cervical length following a cone biopsy in March. This was booked in by the midwife at my booking appointment so I haven’t had a letter or anything that explains any preparations I might need to do in advance. Does anyone know if I need to drink a lot of water beforehand? Might there be a chance they’d want to do an abdominal ultrasound as well where I’d need a full bladder?

Thanks in advance!

No, they don't need a full bladder for an internal and you will be quite uncomfortable if you have one!

To check the cervical length they can only do this internally so I don't think they will do abdominal as well.

Almost certain that you will need a normal or empty bladder for it (definitely not full) and they won’t attempt a normal abdominal scan.

No need for a full bladder or any prep unless you feel like a tidy up down below Grin I had an ultrasound a while back so I had drank plenty of water. Then she decided to do an internal scan so sent me off to the loo to empty my bladder beforehand.
