Struggling immensely with being 38+5 pregnant. Will the midwife give me a stretch and sweep at my 38 week appointment tomorrow if I ask? I have read that most only like to do this at 40 weeks plus. Has anyone experience of getting a stretch and sweep just for asking? I'm struggling to look after my 1 year old with the pains I'm having (been having strong period like pains for over a week now so labour is possibly very close anyway), I'm in absolute agony with piles that have popped🥴🤭that the doctor will give me nothing to treat or no pain relief, sorry for TMI!! This should subside after having baby, or I can at least get some treatment. Lost mucus plug already.
Thank you and again so sorry for the embarrassing tmi

Poor you. Being heavily pregnant is not much fun. If your baby’s head is in the pelvis and you don’t have any risk factors (low placenta, bleeding etc) then she probably will if you ask, it’s your choice! The main reason to wait until near 40 weeks is a sweep will only work if the cervix has started to change so you can get in to do it. The more favourable you are the more likely it is to work. If you do have one the research says they are most likely to work if you have up to 3 about 48 hours apart. Good luck!
