Hi just after some advice or if anyone has experienced similar! I went for my anomaly scan today and was there quite a while she said that his head is so low down is my pelvic she was finding it hard to see certain things without hurting me too much! After a few attempts she stated that she couldn’t see the Cavum a part of the brain and she would like me to be referred to fetal medicine to see a special. I wasn’t told much more but after I left and googled about it all I could do is cry! I’m so anxious and just feel sick waiting for the neff appointment, if anyone has any info it would be much appreciated x

When I had my 20 week scan (already with FMU), they had the same problem. The consultant took ages to get the brain measurement because his head was so far down, she did eventually get the measurement but it was quite worrying whilst she was trying and we weren’t sure what was going on. It sounds like you’ve just been referred to FMU because they’ll be able to give it a better go! If they didn’t say anything was wrong, there probably wasn’t. Try not to worry.

Thankyou for taking the time to respond! Guess its just a waiting game until I get an appointment with fetal medicine, how long until you got your appointment?

The scanning equipment in fetal medicine tends to be better and you'll be scanned by a consultant so it's much more detailed. If baby was in an awkward position it's not unusual to be reffered to FMU. Like a pp said, if there was something wrong, the sonographer would have told you.

My appointment was initially supposed to be a week after the anomaly scan but I was given a cancellation for 2 days later.

Fingers crossed all is well x

I'm having a scan with fetal medicine on Monday as they said at my growth scan at 28 weeks that the Cavum looked bigger than normal...but they don't measure it only check it's there so I've no idea what to expect either.

Hey I hope you don't mind me asking but what was the outcome for you please. I'm going through the exact same and have an MRI this week. I am so scared. Hope you're ok and all went well xx

Hello I was wondering what people's outcomes were after this if you don't mind sharing as we are going through the same thing at the moment after our 20 week scan?
