Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar, for the last few days I’ve been short of breath and felt like something is weighing on my chest, it gets worse when I’m lay on my back. I’ve had pitting Edema in one foot for weeks also but the midwife didn’t seem concerned.
Done a COVID test which is negative so that’s ruled out.

I'd get checked that you don't have a blood clot on your lung!

Call 111 now and be prepared to go to A&E. I would be very worried about Pulmonary Embolism.

The pitting oedema in one foot is a massive red flag. You need to be seen asap.

Please go and get checked out right now. I had a pulmonary embolism at 34 weeks and very nearly died.

Mumoftwo2021 · 07/07/2021 21:42

@endofthelinefinally that’s what I thought but I’ve mentioned it three times and nobody seems worried about it.

@Lipsandlashes sorry to hear this what symptoms did u have? Xx

Paramedic here, I would go to a&e without delay

IME some gps and midwives are very blase/ know very little about dvt and PE.

Shortness of breath for a few days. Heavy snoring. Exhaustion - like I struggled to even walk up the stairs. A lump like feeling in my throat/chest, where I’d have to cough to try and clear it. Climaxed with me waking up one morning with my heart beating out of my chest. I went to hospital and my heartbeat had reached 219 beats per minute.
I can’t reiterate enough - please go to hospital.

Starshapeddreams · 07/07/2021 21:54

OP shortness of breath and heavy chest are not normal and should be checked out. Especially in pregnancy!
Please at least phone 111 but I think you should go to a+e. Better to be safe

Hi all, thought I’d update u, so was in hospital yesterday, chest X-ray and leg scan was all clear which is good. ECG was a little off but I have a UTI which they said could be why it has been off.
I’m glad it wasn’t a clot & it’s put my mind at rest now, however had an aching left arm since yesterday and still short of breath & a heavy chest which is annoying 🤷🏼‍♀️🤔 xx
