You are probably best asking a Pharmacist if it's safe.

I took co-codamol all the way through my pregnancy and my DS is now 5 months old and perfect.

It's about possible risk vs possible benefit. A&E seem to think the likeliness and size of the benefit outweigh the risk.

Nearly every drug will say to check with a prescriber/pharmacist or not to take out of an abundance of caution (which isn't an insensible approach). It's to stop the average person taking things without understanding the risks. A qualified person has told you, in this instance, that benefit likely outweighs the risk.

The main risk is in the third trimester, concerns about the baby being addicted and going through withdrawal at birth or having breathing difficulties. I had codeine during my pregnancy for chronic pain, weaned off in the last month though. DD was fine but they did keep us in to monitor her for 2 days.
I think you should double check with your GP but a few days of codeine shouldn’t cause a problem.

Thankyou for your replys I'm just scared in case it will stop that baby developing properly or miscarriage I'm going.to just take 1 and c of it helps with the pain and hopefully I will feel some relief of the antibiotics tomorrow

Depends what strength really, I was given 8/500 when pregnant with da3 due to extreme pelvic pain. You can take one co codamol and one paracetamol then you’ve had 1gram of paracetamol and half as much codiene, it may help it may not but I don’t think to cover pain short term it would be an issue more if it was high dose and long term.
However a pharmacist could tell you more, I had terrible toothache when pregnant also and ended up having the tooth out.

I had similar problem when 6 months pregnant and my ear drum burst. It hurt more than childbirth.

My sister (a doctor) and the pharmacist weren't happy about the prescription the nurse had done for co-codamol. However A&E doctor friend, midwife friend and nurse friend all said its fine as long as I'm not in labour because it can affect the baby when it's got the drug in its system when it is born but otherwise it doesn't cause problems for the baby. A&E friend said I could take 40mg but my tablets were only 8mg anyway. Anyway this whole debate happened on WhatsApp while I finally slept after a night in A&E in agony and when I woke up the pressure had gone and it was a lot more manageable so I didn't take them in the end anyway.

Hope you're better ASAP!
