Depression when pregnant

Has anyone struggled with depression in pregnancy? This is meant to be a happy & exciting time for me, but instead I feel like I'm living under a black cloud.

Yes, I did! Well severe anxiety that became depression. There is help out there, sometimes unfortunately it’s a bit of a battle to get. But you can ask to be referred to the mental Health midwife at your trust and the perinatal mental health team for support. Please contact your community midwife and ask for her to refer you ASAP.

Your GP can refer you or you can self refer to mental health services in your area. The GP can also prescribe medication if you feel especially low. The wait for mental health services (outside of perinatal) can be quite extreme, mine actually refused to see me because I was pregnant but they were, of course, in the wrong for that.
