Doona car seat

Hey everyone!

I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the doona car seat? Did you find it useful/ beneficial?

I have been considering getting one as it doesn't seem to be that much more expensive than most infant car seats. Mainly for super quick out of car activities ( shop/ quick appointments, etc)?

I of course am not thinking of using this as a replacement for a pram. Still planning to get a pram with bassinet for longer walks/ days out.

Thanks in advance :)

I have the Doona and I think its the best thing since sliced bread!
Hugely convenient if you're doing a school run, quick grocery shop, etc. It does get quite heavy when baby is bigger, ie. closer to a year but then you only lift it for a couple of seconds in/out the car.
I say go for it if you can!

Thank you very much :) I think I will go for it, I have wanted one for ages!

I really wanted one when I was first pregnant but since getting the cybex car seat that lies flat I’ve decided not to. I think if you’ve got other kids it would probably be handy, mainly for jumping in and out the car quickly, especially when the car seat is heavy to carry. This is my first so I just don’t think I’d use it when I have the option of the cybex one. If he falls asleep in it I can at least leave him in it for a while, lie it flat and attach it to the pram. Whereas I’d be too worried doing that for very long with the doona I think. Probably depends on your circumstances

We've just got one and think it is amazing. It's literally a two in one and I love the ease of just releasing the wheels and we have a pushchair.

How high is the handle bar? I’m 5ft 10 and feel like it’s too short for me!

We have a doona! Haven't started using it yet as I'm only 37 weeks but it was one baby purchase I definitely was having 😂 everyone I know who has one has said it's the best thing and really worth it

Thank you everyone for your responses.

I did look into the cloud z car seat but i think I'm just going to go for the doona. It does look pretty practical at times! Gonna treat myself!

It's brilliant.

It’s so handy ! I never even got a pram just used the doona as I drive most places and on rougher terrain I just put her in her sling.

Best baby purchase in my opinion.

Roomonb · 05/07/2021 21:11

Its great, I had to use taxis and it was brilliant. Really easy to use.

Doona is top of my list this time! Nursery drop offs and easy visits to friends without having to carry the seat it’ll ideal for me. We are then just buying a cheaper pram with carrycot when needed! The Joie DLX is only £300, so overall spending a reasonable amount on both.

Not sure but I'm 5"11 and my partner is 6"2 and the handle is just right - no bending down at all.

I like the idea of them but not sure on their safety as an actual car seat , is there a way to find this info ?
