Hi all,
My wife has had two positive pregnancy tests and as you can imagine we were over the moon.

The thing is, today my wife has been passing little clots, she has had spotting from when her period was due (last week), however the little clots she is passing are causing us concern.

We’re phoning the doctor tomorrow for an appointment but just wondering if anyone on here was able to put our mind at ease.

Thanks

I hope it works out for you both.
Some bleeding especially brown discharge can be normal- it could be old blood left over.

CuriousHusband · 04/07/2021 23:03

Thanks for commenting.
My wife says it’s red blood and red clots but very small, just looking for some reassurance at this early stage as we haven’t been through this before.
Seen some posts on various sites saying both positive and negative things re clotting and bleeding, we estimate we are approx 4-6 weeks along so when something like this happens the panic kicks in.

It can be normal or it can be a sign of a miscarriage unfortunately. We won't be able to say. You will need to wait for tomorrow. Wishing you luck

CuriousHusband · 04/07/2021 23:11

Thank you, we will be on the phone first thing tomorrow morning to get seen.

Call EPU tomorrow and let them know she is passing clots I would suggest saying you expect to be 6 weeks, and push to make sure Hcg levels are taken, unfortunately it is unlikely your mind will be put to rest tomorrow as it's too early for a scan but they can test HCG tomorrow and 48 hours after which will give an indication of what is happening!

Wishing you both all the best for tomorrow xx

OP I really hope it goes okay for you and your wife - unfortunately at this stage it can go either way, but please be rest assured miscarriages are never anyone's fault and they're very very common (I know this won't help but I've had two myself and went on to have a healthy pregnancy, so if it is confirmed as a MC please don't lose hope). You sound very caring.

More positively, some ladies bleed throughout their pregnancies and is all fine. I hope you get some answers or help tomorrow, best of luck Smile

Thanks everyone for your responses, it’s greatly appreciated.

We’ve phoned the doctors so waiting for a callback, due to Covid it will be a telephone consultation. Hoping to get a referral so we can be seen by someone.

I would Google EPU number for your area and call them directly you don't have to be referred to go to them, at least you don't in my trust

Hi all, just to give you an update of what happened.
So we spoke to the doctor, who then made an appointment for us to go get a scan. We had a scan but only after getting an internal scan could we see a tiny wee sack, so it’s still far too early to say but estimates are we are 5 weeks along. Got another scan booked to monitor progress, also the staff carrying out the scan advised that spotting is normal and clotting is fairly normal also so nothing to worry about at this stage, if it gets worse to phone back.
Thank you all for your help with this so far.

Ok yes it is fairly early. When is the next scan? I'm sure you'd see a change in a week's time so you can always book a private one if you were anxious to know.

Kona84 · 05/07/2021 20:26

Good luck I hope the next scan goes well

CuriousHusband · 05/07/2021 23:18

Thanks everyone, the next scan has been booked for 10 days time so a week on Thursday, I must admit both me and my wife are feeling a lot more relaxed having been to the hospital today.
Here’s hoping for a calm 10 days and then hopefully we can see some growth when we go next.

Hi all, just to give you a further update, wife phoned and said she was passing bigger clots and more blood which was much more red than the spotting before, we phoned the hospital who advised its sounding like a miscarriage, they advised because we have had the scan on Monday the earliest they can do another scan is this Monday, so booked in to see what’s happening.

Will keep you updated on what happens.

Thanks

Hi OP thanks for the update, so sorry you're both going through such uncertainty - keeping everything crossed for you and your wife on Monday.

WafflesOrIceCream · 07/07/2021 22:18

Keeping fingers crossed for you.x

BunnyRuddington · 07/07/2021 22:38

So sorry to hear that. Does your DW want to join MN? There's a really useful Miscarriage Section where she should get support Thanks
