Hi all,

Just looking for people in the same boat as me!
I m 38 + 1 today and I just feel so done with being pregnant - to the point where I had a big self pitying cry last night!
I had what I thought could be latent labour last Friday, where i was having pressure and back pain but it was irregular and it eventually stopped and went away. Since then I have cramping and pain generally at night that again calms down and stops before morning.
Is anyone else just at the end of their tether? How are you planning to pass the time waiting for something to happen?

I'm 38+1 exactly the same as you and completely agree I am soooo fed up! So uncomfortable in bed, the reflux, the constant needing a wee which makes it difficult to go out places that are too far away from a toilet as it's literally everything 15 mins I need the loo!! Ive not had any pains/mucus plug, nothing! Feel as though the wait could still be a while yet for me...I am getting more and more anxious each day but also that could be the lack of routine etc, since being on maternity leave I am so bored and I know people tell you to relax and enjoy the rest but I'm just feeling on edge and restless now. Can't wait for it to be over!!

I totally hear you. I thought today I d go out and do some walking to try and shimmy baby down a bit, but like you say - 15 minutes and desperately running back for the loo!

I keep hopefully checking the paper after going to the loo, hoping for some sign of labour but I ve had nothing either. ☹️

Have you got a ball? I might try bouncing on that later and see if that helps.

Yeah its so annoying, the pressure down there is ridiculous, just the feeling of needing a wee constantly!! No nothing happening yet for us either, everyone keeps telling me to just prepare to go over the due date incase and not get my hopes up but honestly the thought of going to 42 weeks I could cry!! Yeah I've got a ball, I do use it but not sure how much it helps haha

Mylasmummy2102 · 04/07/2021 15:39

I'm 40+2 and so fed up I'm so uncomfortable and every little thing I'm praying that it's the start but never comes to anything it's so frustrating 😖

38 weeks today and feeling exactly the same - I don’t think I’d prepared for how mentally challenging these last few weeks would be! I’m not known as a patient person at the best of times…!!
Getting out for walks as much as I can and bouncing on the birthing ball. I was in hospital on Thursday and the monitor picked up that I was having regular contractions so they checked my cervix which was soft but not dilated. The midwife said she thought I was only a few days away but over the weekend everything has completely died down - felt it got my hopes up for nothing!
Also symptom spotting every twinge like you guys.
Trying to pass the time with lots of baking, making meals for the freezer etc - oh and watching rubbish TV!!

RachShad · 04/07/2021 17:52

Yes it's very mentally challenging!! I hate waiting normally as well so this is torture 🙈😩 oh you where having contractions but no pain?? Thats interesting! Yeah I really need to just stop thinking about it and let it happen when the time is right but its literally just on my all the time! I am trying to pass the time doing similar things but also lacking energy at this point I just feel so lethargic🤔

RachShad · 04/07/2021 17:52

On my mind *

Tgilaura · 04/07/2021 18:00

The idea of having to go another 4 weeks is one that I can’t even properly consider at the moment 😭

Strange that you could have contractions but not feel them @sittingwaitingwishing ! Hopefully things will ramp up again for you soon. 🙂

Going to have a vigorous bounce on the ball later and hope something happens soon.

37+5 here. Fed beyond words. This is number 2 for us and I'm struggling to keep number 1 entertained. I'm huge! Everyone comments on how big I am and how uncomfortable I must be and I could scream. I get cramps now and again, plenty of braxton hicks but that is it. If I have to be pregnant for another 4 weeks I may go insane!

PennyDreadful66 · 04/07/2021 18:08

The third trimester is hell, I genuinely think being in my third trimester hurt more than recovering from my c section! You're nearly at the finish line now and honestly it's so worth it, hang in there x

sittingwaitingwishing · 04/07/2021 19:26

@Tgilaura @RachShad Some of them felt more like Braxton Hicks (so could feel the bump tightening but no pain to speak of!) and some of them were accompanied with a period type pain. It was more the frequency that the hospital were interested in at the time, as I was getting them regularly (more than three every ten mins) and they were lasting more than a minute each so they felt it might be the start of something, but in the end I said I wanted to go home as I figured as they weren’t hurting yet very much, they couldn’t be the real deal!! Glad I did come home as nothing has happened since then 😂
Are you guys FTM too? Completely agree with the horror that I might still be waiting in 4 weeks time if she’s overdue… can’t bear that thought!

Horehound · 04/07/2021 19:30

I actually winder if you will go soon,op!
Your hormones making you cry etc.

Have you had an intense day of cleaning/nesting yet?! I did the day before I went into labour.
Good luck, it won't be long x

Yes I am a FTM too. 🙂
I ve been so worried about labour this whole pregnancy and the pain etc, but now I m just at the point where I don’t even care.
Eviction needs to take place and soon!!

@Horehound
I really hope so! The last few days I ve been having waves of tearfulness but last night was the first night I had a self pitying wail! My poor husband didn’t know what was wrong with me. 😂
I had read on another thread on here that if you have a good feeling sorry for yourself cry then it could be coming soon - I hope they are right!
I ve done a fair bit of cleaning and nesting - everything is about as ready as it’s going to get.

The only other thing I ve been wondering about is I m still working. I m wondering if that’s putting the brakes on things!

RachShad · 04/07/2021 19:41

Yeah I am also FTM, but I totally agree with just getting baby out now haha, I was so scared at the beginning but now I'd do anything for the pain to arrive 😂
Hmm thats interesting about your contractions though! I haven't even had any braxton hicks or not that I know of! So have no idea what to expect in terms of tightening feeling or pains

Horehound · 04/07/2021 19:43

When are you due to stop? I stopped two weeks before due date and actually went in labour a week early!

I also lost my mucus plug like it just fell out of me and was heavy enough to just slip down the toilet. I didn't even get to see it!

Have you got a TENS machine or anything for when you do get going?

Horehound · 04/07/2021 19:44

Oh and I do remember bouncing on my ball and drinking raspberry leaf tea too. But who knows if that did anything. Oh and maybe something about eating dates? Can't remember but I did them all lol

NatARG · 04/07/2021 19:59

Get a facial or do something you won't be able to do with a newborn. I had my baby during lockdown and missed out on pampering myself and doing nice things with my husband. My baby also arrived a week early- I wish I'd had more time to batch cook, clean and get baby ready. Hope everything goes well Smile

Tgilaura · 04/07/2021 20:02

@Horehound
Planning to work right up until the end. Most of it is from home though so it’s not too strenuous!
I d be gutted about the mucus plug - I m one of those gross people who is mildly fascinated and disgusted at the same time. I want to see what it’s like 😂
I haven’t got a tens. I ve been skeptical that it would really be helpful - did you find it any good?

OP posts:
Horehound · 04/07/2021 21:18

Lol i know! I was sad i never got to inspect it haha. I remember being thoroughly disgusted looking at the placenta...gads.

Yeh tens machine really did help me for the first day of labour. I was in labour 72 hours!
