I'm only six weeks into my second pregnancy, but I already seem to have put on weight and my belly already seems bigger. That can't be right, can it?
I am fatter this time around than when I got pregnant before, but recently started at the gym - mostly so I can be a bit fitter when it comes to labour. (I was much fitter during my last pregnancy as well.)But even tho exercise is new, I have put on weight this week and my belly seems bigger.
Anyone else have experience of this second time around? I have a cough at the moment, and when I really hack and my muscles are going, it's like I can feel the extra liquid in my uterus. Plus I had pains in my stomach which I don't remember having before.
How are second pregnancies different from the first?

Don't wish to alarm you, in my first (and only) pregnancy, I was mocked for buying maternity trousers at 9 weeks. I now have 10 month old twins. Also had a lot of morning sickness.

progesterone can do this, its irritates your bowels, making your tummy bugger.

sorry, bigger!!

I showed from 6 weeks with my first! Was in maternity clothes from 11 weeks. I had an average sized baby and a single pregnancy. Sometimes it just happens.

My tummy was a bugger before it got bigger with a beggar!!
I keep thinking twins because I had separate pains on both sides of my belly and then had implantation bleeding. Plus I am 37 and my Grandfather on my mum's side was a twin. Jeez, I romatically wanted twins the first time around. Now I am a struggling self employed I think it would be a nightmare. (Tho of course also a blessing.)
Ah well, got appt with the Docs next Friday so will get the first scan booked then. Still a few weeks before we find out either way. I was just thinking it was because I was less fit and more fat and therefore all my muscles were looser and not holding things in like before, but I don't know. Just have to wait and see.
No morning sickness so far, but then I didn't have the first time round either.
One plus, apart from the financial aspect, I'm much calmer this time round than last time. It's good except I'm not as paranoid about doing everything by the book. Ate some peanut butter at lunchtime which I would not have done last time, and shock, horror, the odd half glass of wine has passed my lips.

Blimey, but I don't want to tell anyone until Christmas. (Will be 10 weeks then.) But if I keep on like this it will be really obvious really quickly. Jeez.

MsMommy, not thats its much help but i'm pregnant with my first and only 7 weeks but visable bump (know it mostly bloatedness) apparently my mum was the same. I think people will guess with me before 12 weeks.

Hello, can I join this thread please.

MsMommy, I am 6/7 weeks too and didn't want to tell anyone till Christmas either but sadly my stomach has other ideas! I took my DS for an immunisation yesterday and we were discussing if it was safe with me being pregnant. The doctor questioned if I was 3 months as she thought 'my stomach looked like that'. Perhaps it's twins she said gleefully. I have been prodding my extra flesh ever since. Incidentally one friend did guess because I wasn't quaffing wine and also I could see them studying my stomach... so much for keeping stoom ;o
