Please help me come up with an excuse!

I had a positive pregnancy test on 1st July. I am unsure if this is another chemical, as not seen much progression in the lines yet and it’s still early (16dpo)

I am going away tomorrow night with the girls for 1 night. We have a cottage booked with a hot tub & have been planning on drinking! What excuses can I give to not go in the hot tub and not drink 🙈

I have had 3 previous miscarriages (1 chemical and 2 MMC) but I don’t want to tell them the truth, as haven’t even seen my parents to tell them yet. I am on progesterone pessaries now so even more reason to not want to go in the hot tub

I want to go still but just not sure what to say 🙈

Antibiotics for tooth infection / hungover

Metronidazole for a tooth infection. You def cant drink when taking that.

The not drinking thing will be easier to cover than the not going in the hot tub thing. Think they will put two and two together! Does it really matter if they suspect though?? Just say you arent feeling great or something. Congratulations!

To be honest, in your circumstance, and fora random one night away, I'd come down with "food poisoning", make heartfelt apologies, and skip it.

As soon as you don't drink, don't get in the hot tub and start talking about antibiotics, everyone is going to know. Whether they keep silent, or whether they start squealing and begging to know if you're pregnant depends on the people! But they will know. So if you really don't want them to, skip it.

If your friends know that you are trying to conceive you could tell them that you have decided to cut out alcohol altogether because you were told it would help. You could sit on the edge if the hot tub and just out your legs/feet in. They are often too hot for me anyway and last time I was in one I spent a lot of time perched on the side. Then you can at least be joining in with the activity.

Antibiotics for cystitis, that covers both drink and hot tub

The antibiotic excuse is always seen straight through. I'd simply say you were trying to get pregnant and after recent miscarriages not willing to risk anything if it's early days in a pregnancy. You don't have to tell them about the positive test result, and it's much easier than inventing an illness to cover it up

Forget your swimming costume! I’m sure they won’t want you in the hot tub naked 😂

Honestly, they'll suspect when you don't drink or go in the hot tub, particularly if you've all been talking and being excited for it.
Can you get away with looking like you're drinking? Just have a glass, have a sip every now and then depending on what you're drinking pretend you've got alcohol but just put the mixer in?
Otherwise I think it's either don't go, or be up front - you're trying, you've had miscarriages and you don't want to risk it just in case you are pregnant, but you'd rather not talk about it.

Can you say you have a heavy period? You'll happily get drink top ups while everyone in hot tub and you can make it looks like you're drinking! If you take some non-alcoholic prosecco and wine it will look like you're drinking, just hide the bottle!
Antibiotics are a massive giveaway, they may not say it to your face, but they'll absolutely suspect you're pregnant! I've been on a genuine health kick before and not been drinking and several people thought I was pregnant.

Yeah ‘didn’t bring my swimming costume because I’ve got fake tan on. Don’t really like hot tubs but I’ll sit at the side!’ You could pour a bottle of non alcoholic wine into a wine bottle and say you’re not drinking much. Say you’re hungover, a few of my friends have used that one and gone into detail about how drunk they were the night before so no one suspected a thing

I also have a friend in your situation with losses and she’s obviously told me about all of this but I wouldn’t even ask her if she wanted an alcoholic drink now because I know that puts her in a situation, just in case she is. If she said she was having blood tests at the hospital and had been told not to drink for a couple of months I would fully take that and not push any further. Depends if your friends know or not
