Hi all, I'm in third trimester and got a bad itch on my tummy I want to take some allergy tablets which can stop the itch, is there any that people have used previously that has helped the itch but not caused harm to the baby?

I don't think you should take anything without medical advice. I think you should get checked out by a doctor. Itching in pregnancy can be caused by liver issues.

Sorry. Hope that's not too worrying. It's just that i wouldnt want to take an unnecessary risk at this stage.
Best of luck.

Severe itch should be checked out but piriton is fine to take

If the itching is bad, you should tell your GP / midwife as it might be a symptom of something more sinister, like obstetric cholestasis.
Are you sure it's an allergy? It would be unusual to develop an allergy on your belly only. it might be just your belly skin stretching - rub moisturiser into it several times a day.
If you think it is an allergy, I took loratadine in pregnancy for hay fever, and it was fine. Cetirizine is also ok.
