Can anyone make this out?
Baby number 2

Was 37+6 at appointment, 38 weeks today.

There's a number 7 in the urine section?

And I cant make out what the engaged bit says. It wasn't my normal midwife so she didn't say alot (she was on annual leave) x

engaged: ceph= cephalic

that means head down so in the correct position

Pombears12 · 02/07/2021 16:36

Yeah I can make that out. Just can't make out what is says on the engagement bit, e blish ? And what does a 7 mean in the urine section

GreatBritishWineDrinker · 02/07/2021 16:39

Is it N not 7? N - negative for protein?

FakeFruitShoot · 02/07/2021 16:40

Urine looks like lower case N for negative

Ceph is head down

Engagement usually measured in 5ths where 5/5 is fully free and 2/5 or 1/5 is fully engaged.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 02/07/2021 16:42

my posts got eaten up!!

sorry, presentation is cephalic - you know this

engaged: probably not at all, usually there's a number like 1/5 or 3/5 as baby's head is dropping

urine: looks like a number 1 to me (that's how I write it).
sorry, no clue what it means

Kentuki · 02/07/2021 16:42

Could it be brim?

Slightly old fashioned way of saying about 4/5 palpable

Kentuki · 02/07/2021 16:42

The 7 is def an N, for normal

GailLondon · 02/07/2021 16:47

Oh well done @Kentuki that does say brim, I couldn’t make it out at all until you said it.

The urine column as n makes more sense than 7 as she seems to be left-handed so is an n from that angle

Pombears12 · 02/07/2021 16:49

Yeah maybe the 7 is an 'n', never seen it written like that before or circled.

As for engagement she did say that's babys head was just at the pelvic brim? I thibk thats what she said anyway, honestly not sure what she said about it just remeber pelvic brim being mentioned. Was a very quick appointment. Hes been really really low since about 34 weeks but wasn't in my pelvis, growth scan at 36+6 couldn't measure his head as she said it was in my pelvis then?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 02/07/2021 16:52

lower case "n" makes sense..I can see it now

also pelvic brim - gosh, haven't heard that phrase in a while!
shame she didn't have just an extra minute to say or write how engaged the head is with numbers

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 02/07/2021 16:53

I Googled it, seems like baby's head is 3/5 engaged.

good stuff!

AltitudeCheck · 02/07/2021 16:56

The N could also be 'normal' in the urine section. Would expect negative to be '-ve'

Pombears12 · 02/07/2021 17:03

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba I've been googling it for about 2 hours with no luck so came on here to ask lol

🤣

if @Kentuki hadn't recognised brim I would've been clueless!
I think I heard that phrase maybe twice with DS1 - that was 20 years ago!

Pombears12 · 02/07/2021 17:30

Thanks All. Hoping baby makes an appearance soon! Was induced at 38+4 with first so hoping this one arrives on his own so I can have my water birth!

OP posts:
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 02/07/2021 17:32

aww I hope you do!!

I would've loved a water birth - had enough kids that by the law of averages one should've been a pool baby - but no such luck.
wishing you all the best!

Pombears12 · 02/07/2021 18:06

Thank you!

Hoping he has started to engage as I'm thoroughly fed up in this heat lol xx
