chiropractor miscarriage worries

Hi, I know how ridiculous this is going to sound, but I'm 14 weeks pregnant and had my regular monthly chiropractor appointment today. I mentioned lower back pain and he used a quite intense massage gun on my thighs and bum area, not really on my lower back, but the vibrations were quite strong and now I've got it into my head that it might have harmed the baby in some way, like scrambled its tiny brain.

He also made an awful remark about miscarriages related to the covid vaccine when I said I was due to have mine next week, which means I'm also questioning his professionalism, and that got me even more worried.

Does anyone know if vibrations can effect a baby's development at all?

Making a joke about miscarriages at all is grotesque. So I'd not be going because of that.

Serena Williams won a grand slam in her first trimester and I'm sure she was having vigorous physio as well as playing intensive sport. I know lots of women who continued horse riding until gone 20 weeks and I'm sure you get more vibration from being in a car or on a bus.

Thank you so much for your message, I know I am being a bit silly with the worries, but I just always feel I make the wrong choices. That’s good to hear about Serena Williams.

It wasn’t even a joke, just some horrible remark. I said I knew several people who had had the vaccine whilst pregnant and he said ‘I guess you’d just have a miscarriage’.

I certainly am not going back there. He made a comment on my stomach when I arrived, and last time asked if my pregnancy was planned Angry

Thank you so much again

They sound very unprofessional! I'd report them even if I had no intention of returning.

Just such an example of a misogynist

I wouldn't go to a chiropractor anyway but I go for deep tissue massage with a physio and she uses the gun on my legs and bum. I'm 23 weeks, didn't even give it a thought! It's fine, it's a very gentle vibrating really, it's not an actual impact.

Wow, what a charmer! That's a real horrible thing to say RE covid vaccines, I wouldn't be going back either. And if they ask why it'll them truthfully. Hope you are doing ok, Xx

I saw a chiropractor at 13 weeks and 15 weeks and I’ve been fine. Now 21 weeks. I had the massage gun thing as well.

My chiropractor was also anti vax hence I’ve stopped going! His partner is pregnant so also not having the vaccine! I hope they manage to avoid covid.

Thanks so much everyone! Feeling so much more assured now. It’s so hard to remove yourself from all the illogical worries sometimes xx

chiroprac is complete woo and a waste of time. there is no evidence based behind it and it can be very dangerous.

get physio if you have back pain or muscle pain

Pregnant340 · 23/09/2021 07:51

Hi, my partner used a massage gun last night on my upper and lower back because I was in a lot of pain. I’m 9 weeks pregnant and I’m really worried I’ve harmed the baby! I have been having really bad morning sickness and this morning I don’t have sickness! Anyone any advice?
