Hi guys. Currently 9 wks pregnant and I feel so tired, nausea but the main one is I cant stop spitting. I did read it's part of the hormones. Has anyone else experienced this and what helped? Been taking pickle crisps and lemon sorbet but still present. I have to order shopping online cos cabt go or do anything without finding somewhere to spit. 🤪😅Thanks in advance.

Go and see your GP. It could be silent reflux, which they can give you tablets for.

23 weeks and still spitting in the sink every now and then. So annoying but I'd take this overr the nausea any day!

@Mummy2O @patcarmichaelenergy Thanks for your replies. Do you think it's a serious thing? It's been on for a few days now. Might call gp than. Just want it to ease up Smile

If it is reflux, it isn't serious and can be managed. It is often hormone related. Mine got worse until it felt like I had a permanent lump in my throat. With Omeprazole it has gone entirely for me. (I'm now 37 weeks).

Hey @IloveGod2 , I’m 8 weeks and have had this for a week or so - driving me nuts! Excess saliva is totally normal in early pregnancy though. It’s called ptyalism. Fortunately I had a friend who warned me I might get it, so when it arrived I just took it as another positive sign that everything is hopefully going ok! I find mouthwash every now and again helps. Also sucking on werthers originals.

Congrats on your pregnancy and wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

@Mummy2O @Lowkeyloopy thanks ladies. Very helpful and congrats. Hopefully it will ease off soon. Dont really want take any medication for now as it's still early and had 2 mc before now. Will see how it goes. Stay blessed everyone x

No I dont think it is anything serious, but will ease off as pregnancy goes along. Definitely by the time our babies arrive! My nausea and spitting were much worse in the first trimester.

I had this briefly at one point during my pregnancy. Like my mouth would just constantly fill with saliva and I couldn’t swallow it as it would knock me sick so I was just having to spit all the time. At the time I read that sour sweets can help. I found having boiled sweets helped as the saliva then seemed like it was due to that instead so I could swallow it. Fortunately it was short lived for me and quickly disappeared on its own.

Thank you all for your responses. Its still there but what can I do lol. Hopefully it will pass soon x

It's excess saliva, and it's such a pain but very common. No reason to worry. There is info on the NHS website about things you can do to reduce it a bit. I didn't find much helped to be honest but mine definitely got better around 13/14 weeks when my sickness started to settle as well. Hope yours does too!

@MGee123 thanks hun. Sucking on sweets etc and it helps but once I stop eating it comes back. Lol. Hopefully it will ease soon. Amen. Had to take time off work cos it fidnt help with the talking either lol
