Worcester or Gloucester Royal?

Because of our postcode I have the choice of my maternity care being from Worcester Royal or Gloucester Royal.

Higher risk pregnancy so it will be consultant led either way, and there’s a serious possibility baby will be premature so experience of the neonatal units would be useful.

Distance/time to the hospital is probably about equal. Worcestershire is slightly more convenient for routine appointments but not enough to be a deciding factor if one clearly outshines the other. Rumour has it Worcester is currently under staffed. Not sure if that’s the case in Gloucester too.

Advice welcome.

Can’t give any advice on Gloucester but Worcester I have frequented greatly over the last year due to a complex miscarriage.

I cannot commend the staff and facilities enough. They are amazing. I’ve always felt incredibly well looked after xx

I think Zara had one of her children at Gloucester Royal. Both are probably about the same and I have had dealings with both of them too. Gloucester is a dump as a town but other than that...

I’ve had all my 3 at Gloucester royal. This baby will also be Gloucester. I’m consultant led and will be having another planned section. All mine have been c sections.

My first was an induction that turned into emergency c section. We were in hospital for a week as my baby had to go into SCBU. The care she received was fantastic. I couldn’t fault the staff there at all.

The whole women’s centre there is amazing. Obviously I’ve not hugeness birth anywhere else so have no comparison but from my personal experience I cannot fault Gloucester.

I had a choice of Southmead in Bristol, or Gloucester due to living in between the 2, but I’d never choose anywhere other than Gloucester. As another poster commented Gloucester itself is a bit of a dump and parts of the hospital are tired, but the women’s centre had a pretty big overhall a few years back and it’s lovely now.

I’ve also unfortunately had to have many dealings with the EPU at Gloucester due to 4 miscarriages, and again the staff that dealt with me were fantastic.
