NIPT inconclusive

Hi all,

I had a harmony test done last week at 16weeks, my combined screening results were low risk but I was still a bit concerned and decided to go ahead. I received today an email saying that that the first blood tube did not generate any results, so the laboratory is now processing the second blood tube.
Has anyone one had this experience before? I can only see that this normally happen if it is too early in pregnancy or you have high BMI, which are not my cases...
Now getting a bit worried, if the second tube will also turn up inconclusive I will definitely wait after my 20weeks scan before retest.

Thank you

Yes, my nipt test was inconclusive and I decided against re-testing (got a refund). Stuck with the NHS results which were low risk. All was ok :)

@India999 Amazing thank you for sharing!!! These are my thoughts as well, to not re-testing if second tube is inconclusive too. I almost regretted doing it …

Not me but a friend had inconclusive, but her second sample about a week later gave a result :)

@cloud2021 do you mind me asking who you got your harmony test via? Did they do a scan at the same time? I've only just found out I'm pregnant and I've been Googling NIPT tests. Can't seem to find many options - and none close by either. Im 35 so quite keen to do this.

@GemLooper I am in London and here there are a lot of options. I have done the test through a private clinic in SE London as it was close to home, but they eventually sent the test to TDL Genetics to be processed.
I only did a blood test as I had just had the 12 weeks scan.

Thanks @cloud2021. Yes, I could see a few options in london. I'm in the east of England and can't find any in my local cities (Cambridge, peterborough etc). Don't fancy travelling into london given covid. I'll have to do a bit more research I think

@GemLooper I like 2 hours from London but ended up booking a SAFE nipt and scan at The birth Company on Harley Street.

It was amazing. Such a professional experience. I’m 38 so knew I wanted a nipt, and in fact opted out of the nhs combined screening.

I initially had a harmony test done at Ultrasound Direct as they were local to me, but the results came back inconclusive. In hindsight I wish I’d gone to the birth company in London from the start.

We travelled by car, parked at Westfield shopping centre then got the tube over to Harley street. This was during the lockdown. I felt surprisingly safe and just kept my mask on. I found the majority of people really tried to stick to the distancing guidelines.

Then the scan and appointment itself was incredible. The scan was far more thorough and detailed than any nhs scan I have ever had in my 4 pregnancies.

I received my results on the 7th calendar day. So would highly recommend and for me was well worth the 2 hour drive to London.
