Hi,

I'm going in for a csection in early august, I'm starting to get prepared for it now. Ive had a csection pre-covid times and had a 24 hour stay. I can't remember what I brought but I'm concerned about needing to bring more stuff as once we enter the hospital we can't go back and back in Shock

My brain is abit foggy so I'm struggling to put a list together of what I'll need, also what size case? I have a hand luggage type case and a bag for baby.

Can anyone help? I'd be so grateful, I'm going shopping for bits today to make a start Grin

My baby came earlier than expected, so I hadn't quite got my bag packed! Pre covid times though.
My waters broke, and I went through all my maternity pads before I even had the baby. They were busy and I didn't have my section for ten hours as I wasn't in active labour, but I was soaking those pads, so bring plenty.
I was in for four days, I know its much shorter now. But my catheter split so at one point had to completely change and put on the outfit I had planned to leave hospital in. So bring and extra couple knickers and change of clothes.
I couldn't concentrate to read, so I won't recommend magazines or a book, but if you are into knitting or the like that may keep you busy without taking up too much mental space.
Toiletries of course, though I think I only had the one shower. Wipes as a shortcut and lippy if you think you are naked without it!
As for baby I just had a few baby grows and vests, nappies and muslins and a blanket and little cap.
Really that's it. The only other thing was the food was barely edible so my husband brought in a daily sandwich and snack from M&S and fresh fruit, which was impossible to get at the hospital!

I'd highly recommend getting a long wire phone charger. The plugs are never in convenient places!

Maybe some snacks too as the food tends to be not so great!

Also, random and possibly a silly question but would I need a hat for a baby in august?

OP posts:
Flamingosnbears · 29/06/2021 14:17

Yes, they have to have a hat on for the first 24 hrs after birth due to regulating their temperature

sarah13xx · 29/06/2021 14:33

@wjg65ka yeah think I have 4 (just in case) 🤣 they ended up going with different things I was packing so just put them in. My c-section pack I was given said I was to bring one

Dressing gown tie. Tie to the end of the bed to pull yourself up with.
