Pain under right breast

Hey, I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant and have got this pain under my right breast. Whenever I touch it it's so sore. Certain positions get rid of the pain, but if I was to touch it, it's like a burning sensation in a way. Has anyone experienced this?

Could if possibly be indigestion ?

No it's definitely not that, its all day pretty much this type of pain

Is it rib pain? I had it terribly once I hit the third trimester. Changing position helped with it, I found sitting up straighter and not slouching was best.

I have the same thing! Sometimes I wake up in the night and it’s really distracting having a burning sensation under my boobs (mine is worse with the right one though, like you). Once it was so bad I had to take painkillers as I couldn’t sleep. I’m pretty certain it’s because I’m wearing underwired bras and when I sit down, it’s digging into the sensitive tissue immediately underneath my boobs. Could it be the same reason for you?

literally was thinking about calling midwife tomorrow as i have this in centre of chest just under sternum and on the start of the ribs down the right side! it honestly feels burning, sometimes goes, and when comes back its really sore and makes me press it/rub it. im not convinced entirely pregnancy related as was checked out for gallbladder problem in november as had seen doctor about it when was about 10 weeks pregnant (then had MMC), they said musculoskeletal so saw a physio for a few months after which didnt do much but pain mostly went. 30 weeks and now defo back with a vengeance !

Is it coming from your breast or underneath it? I’ve had an on and off throbbing pain in mine and it’s came out in tiny marks, they’re not stretch marks but I think it’s burst blood vessels. Has died down now at 34 weeks

I'm not sure weather to ring the midwife or not... I'm struggling to sleep with it now the pain just won't go away. It's not made it's way to the right side of my upper back

Absolutely call the midwife, not because I think it's an emergency but because you are worried ! Any concerns however big or small should be discussed with your midwife, that's what they are there for ! Don't feel silly or your wasting the midwifes time . At the end of the day the less stressed you are the better for the baby x

call your hospital and get checked out

if it was under the ribcage I'd say maybe it's gallbladder/gallstones but just under boob, who knows?

Could be a number of things. Baby’s foot under your rib, muscle pain, organs being pushed up wire bra etc

Or a liver condition known as cholestasis but that usually comes with severe itching of hands and feet & is diagnosed with a blood test.

Hi, I asked my midwife about this today. The pain has been quite bad for me in the past couple of days, very sore and a burning sensation, just under my right boob. My upper back on the right hand side is also aching. She said it will definitely be my ribcage expanding. There’s no rhyme or reason why it’s only on the right side - she said sometimes it just seems to affect one side more than the other. Unfortunately there’s not much you can do about it other than use a heat pack / hot water bottle and take paracetamol. I’m currently 27 weeks so asked how long the pain could last, and she said unknown - it could fade, or it could last the rest of the pregnancy. But it’s not a sign of anything being wrong, it’s just annoying! Hope this has helped…
