6weeks pregnant and bleeding

Hi all,

This is my first time posting so excuse the long post.

So I got my BFP 15th June and this was confirmed with various cb pregnancy tests. By my calculations I'm 6 wks pregnant today.

On Thursday and Friday, I had some light spotting (brown in colour) so wasn't too concerned. But yesterday it got heavier, like a dark red blood spodge on a panty liner and this happens like 4-5 times throughout yesterday. This morning I went to the toilet and passed quite a bit of blood and clots, the toilet water was like a deep dark red. So immediately thinking, this isn't good news. I've had some mild cramping in lower belly (no real pain, similar to a period) and never really had any pregnancy symptoms to begin with so that's not changed.

I called the Early Pregnancy Unit, and their triage asked me a bunch of questions then said that it sounds like a miscarriage and to do a pregnancy test in 2 weeks and if it comes back negative that will confirm the miscarriage and they've cancelled my 1st midwife appt and 12wk scan 😔.

Maybe I'm just clinging on to hope, but it felt a bit of a quick diagnosis given they've not taken any blood from me to test Hcg levels or offered me an ultrasound to check what's going on (they only do this for emergencies).

Has anyone else got any experiences positive or negative they can share with me?

I have a private 7 week scan booked in 9 days time which I intend on going to even just to confirm the miscarriage but it's just a long anxious and upsetting wait.

I would love to hear from anyone that's gone/going through something similar.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry I can't help with any answers to your questions as I haven't gone through this yet. I am 5 weeks atm and have experienced some light spotting and am paranoid every day that I might miscarry.

I just didn't want to scroll past this post without acknowledging that I'd read it as no one else has responded yet. What you must be going through is really tough and I just wanted to show you a little virtual love and support ❤️

Erinrose82 · 27/06/2021 21:02

ThanksThanks
Some people have bleeding and all is fine, sometimes it's not.
Glad you have your scan booked, sorry how blunt they are and I wish they could scan you to see.
Sending love ❤️

ApplesandBananas21 · 27/06/2021 21:09

I'm very sorry your going through this and also for how the hospital have been.

Can you ring your GP tomorrow and ask for an HCG blood test?

I had a friend who had a 'period'/bleed every month in pregnancy, it can happen but of course it can also mean MC.

If this was me, apart from ringing GP I would try and move the scan forward to ASAP

Greymalkin12 · 27/06/2021 21:11

@Anxiousnewbie very sorry you're going through this. It sounds similar to what I had a few months ago, at 6 or 7 weeks (they did do an ultrasound but found very little). As with you they asked if I could do a pregnancy test after a week or so to confirm the miscarriage. I found it was more or less like a heavy period (although more draining and with clots).

Wishing you all the best.

Greymalkin12 · 27/06/2021 21:15

And obviously as other people have said hopefully it will be ok and many people experience bleeding during their pregnancies and it is fine - sorry my post was rather negative.

Holyridonkulus · 27/06/2021 22:50

It could be caused by a hematoma which may or may not affect a successful pregnancy.

Fingers crossed for you 7 week scan that you see a little bean xx

careerchangeperhaps · 27/06/2021 22:54

It's impossible to say at this stage. I know a lady who bled so much between weeks 6-12 that she was repeatedly admitted to hospital as they were so worried about the amount of blood she was losing - it literally dripped off the bed when she got up.
Her 'baby' is now a lovely, intelligent 16 year old.

Fingers crossed for you.

Anxiousnewbie · 28/06/2021 08:56

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support it means a lot. Its helpful to know people's thoughts and experiences both positive and negative.

@jamiam congratulations on your pregnancy-sending you an abundance of baby dust!

@erinrose82 thank you for you kind thoughts

@applesandbananas81 that's a good idea I will call the GP tomorrow and see if they'll do a blood test to check my hcg levels and try and bring my scan forward. Id rather just know now than be left waiting!

@greymalkin12 I'm so sorry for your loss 😢 I hope you are alright. I don't find your response negative at all i find it helpful to know other people's experiences so I have an idea what to expect really.

@holyridonkulus hopefully it's just that. Thanks for the positivity ❤️

@careerchangeperhaps that poor woman sounds awful, so glad she everything worked out for her. I guess it shows it can go either way!

Thanks so much everyone for sharing your thoughts and support ❤️

How are you OP?

MsK89 · 03/07/2021 14:47

Hey hope you are ok. This sounds a bit like one of my early miscarriages. Sorry to say that. I tested for the next few days after a big bleed, and my positive tests faded dramatically over the days. But there is stories of other people who haven’t lost their baby. Hope you are ok x

Anxiousnewbie · 03/07/2021 19:22

Hi,

So I got my bloods done on Wednesday and my hcg was 205 (not sure of this is very low for what would be 6 weeks) and I'm waiting for my blood results from Friday (48hrs later) to see if they've decreased. I highly doubt hcg will have doubled as pregnancy tests are definitely fading but still showing positive and its been a week now. I've pretty much stopped spotting now and Ive not really passed any clots or a sac or anything. How do I know when it's all over? Am I waiting to pass something or just waiting for the pregnancy test to go negative? Feel like I'm waiting but not sure for what exactly.

Thanks for checking in guys, I hope everyone is doing well!

I didn't check in because unfortunately I had a really similar experience this week.

Monday I started bleeding quite heavily and when I rang the doctors they told me to go straight to A+E. I had my bloods taken and they were showing low levels of hcg. I went back Wednesday to have them taken again and it confirmed it.

I stopped bleeding on Wednesday and have had no other symptoms since. Honestly wouldn't wish this feeling on anyone OP so I hope your second bloods come back with some positive news ❤️❤️

Anxiousnewbie · 03/07/2021 20:53

@jamiam I'm so so sorry to hear this. I know you said last week you were experiencing light spotting so I had my fingers crossed for you that all was okay. If you don't mind me asking what did your blood levels come back as?

I hope you're okay my lovely, I'm right there with you it's awful. We're going through this together so if you ever need to talk I'm here x

I bled at 5 weeks pregnant passing clots and it was heavy. My ultrasound can’t see anything as yet. I have to have a scan every other week to make sure it’s not ectopic and my HCG is checked every 48 hrs. I’ve had 2 miscarriages and this doesn’t feel like a miscarriage. Doctors weren’t expecting my levels to rise and kept telling me I was having a miscarriage. Just keep your faith, and know that not everything is by the book! Some women stop off with low HCG and have a healthy pregnancy.

Anxiousnewbie · 09/08/2021 22:07

@Love32 hope it all goes well for you and sorry your journey hasn't been easy! Got my fingers crossed for you that baby is all fine!

Thank you so much , I hope the same for you as well. Please be patient with your body. Everything will be fine. My levels doubled yesterday and we finally found the baby in its correct spot. I’m also switching doctors .
