Hi all,

A first time mum here…

I’m currently 14+1 and have an anterior placenta. First time mums who had an anterior placenta, when did you start feeling flutters/movement?

Thanks in advance x

DS2 21 weeks
DD 17 weeks

With ds2 my placenta was right across the front and low down (was covering cervix for a while) so I basically felt nothing all
Pregnancy but with DD it was high and to the side at the front so I felt loads and much earlier

Somewhen between 15 & 16 weeks. My placenta was high enough that I could feel movement below it early on. It was very faint like a tickle until about 20 weeks when it got stronger.

1st baby I wouldn't expect to feel much until 20wk+ anyway, a little later with an anterior. The placenta will move as baby grows so you'll feel more as the weeks pass.

I could feel this one with anterior placenta from 12wk but she is our 6th, movements were few and far between until after 20wk. Hubby 1st fet her kick at 21+5wk. I had a growth scan at 31+6wk and the placenta is now in the fundal position.

I’m 21 weeks, first time pregnancy and anterior placenta

I feel I may have felt something a couple of days ago but can’t be sure so wouldn’t say I’ve felt my baby yet

I was told by the sonographer at my 20 week scan that she doubts I would feel anything for another couple of weeks because of my anterior placenta. My midwife advised it takes longer for first time mums to feel things and that if I haven’t felt anything by around 24 weeks, that’s the time to get in touch.

So you’ve a while to go yet :) I know it’s so easy to worry esp between scans. Maybe at your next midwife appointment ask to hear the heartbeat, that reassured me.

21 weeks. I dreamt I had movement and felt it properly that day.

bananamonkey · 27/06/2021 10:08

DC1 23 weeks
DC2 13 weeks

Both AP but must have been different positions and you feel it quicker second time around. It’s frustrating having to wait but you’ll feel it soon Smile

First flutters around 18 weeks, proper kicks by around 22 weeks x

LillyLeaf · 27/06/2021 10:13

It was about 20wks but only was a very small movement, then increase more after that.

about 19 weeks. I'd felt something at 17/18 weeks but couldn't be sure, but at 19 weeks I started feeling definite wriggles as I call them. xxx

I’m first time and anterior placenta, too. I was asked at my 20 week scan if I’d felt anything and I hadn’t. Started the next day. Now I have the nice combo of hyperemesis and a baby who constantly seems to roll around 🙃
