Can I use bath products?

Specifically bio oil and Rochelle humes (I think her brand is my little coco) brand bath oil?

The ‘my little coco’ mama bath oil says on the back “suitable for expectant mothers” but I’ve still panicked and not used it!

13w and my back is sore so love my baths but really want to add a bit more to them! Also heard oils in baths are great to keep you moisturised all over :)

Can anyone reassure me here? Apologies I’ve just been so paranoid about what I use from the start but really want to start breaking it! Can’t go 27 weeks (or more if I go longer lmao!) with my baths still being plain 🤣

Yes, absolutely fine.

Yes, totally fine - enjoy 😊

It literally says it’s ok for pregnant women on the bottle, so of course it’s ok. Is everything ok generally and would it be worth a chat with your midwife about anxiety? It’s normal to be careful when you’re pregnant but it’s quite extreme to be panicking about a bath product that says it is suitable for expectant mothers on the bottle. I had baths throughout both pregnancies and just used whatever I grabbed first, with my second baby it was mostly the Child’s Farm stuff I buy for the older one. Ordinary bath products aren’t going to harm baby, the biggest problem I imagine would be that heavily scented ones might give you a yeast infection! There’s no need to be having plain baths.

Yes of course, enjoy! What made you think you couldn’t use bath products?

Bowwowwow97 · 26/06/2021 19:24

@LakeShoreD thank you for asking about me :)

I do indeed suffer with anxiety, my midwife is aware just said I wasn’t at risk though! It’s manageable but I do worry about very specific stuff and to a great extent

Trying to break this though so think I’ll add some to my next bath

Thank you for your responses so far everyone :)

It's because your skin can be more sensitive during pregnancy and become more dry, not because it harms the baby. There are a few essential oils that can be harmful to pregnancy, so Google those, but most bath products will be fine, especially if it says it's for pregnant women.

Are you doing anything like yoga or mindfulness / meditation OP. There's probably some pregnancy yoga on you tube you could look at.

Anything you want to chuck in the bath will be fine. Just be careful with oil as it makes the bath slippy.

StevieNix · 26/06/2021 19:35

Yes of course it’s fine! Just be careful getting in and out as it can obviously make your bath a bit more slippery than usual

Most bath products are safe tbh.

If you love baths keep your fingers crossed you don't get spd. I have this and it's become such hard work to actually get out of the bath again I've written them off until after birth. I'm worse than an upturned turtle, just undoes all the good a soak offers.
