I can’t sleep

Hey all

I’m around 26 weeks and I CANNOT sleep laying down. I’ve tried everything, pillows to support my back, my sides, slightly elevated myself - everything.

My back and sides are in constant pain and I’m getting a sort of spasm type feeling when I’m lying down that is so bad I can’t even change position without squealing.

For the past 4/5 nights I haven’t slept through the night, not once. I keep waking up with excruciating pain.

This has never happened to me in previous pregnancies and I’ve only even felt uncomfortable in the last few weeks but I’m not quite at the final stages yet so very scared as to why this is happening.

Any suggestions anyone? How can I manage this?

Sort out the pain surely would be the main solution, go to a physio, deep tissue masseuse, osteopath, get a support belt, do stretches and exercises that will help it etc.

Do you think it’s to do with baby’s position? I’ve been fine sleeping (thank god) but sometimes walking is when it hurts and other times its fine, I think it hurts most when his head is low down

I was the same! I ended up getting a physio referral for Pelvic Girdle Pain through my midwife and they gave me exercises to do. I also got a tubigrip to wear which helped to support my back and pelvis during the day meaning I wasn’t as sore at night. I got a Supportiback pillow
from Amazon which was more supportive than my original pregnancy pillow and helped. It did really improve. Now I’m in the third trimester I’m getting a bit of pain again but I’m sleeping better. I do have to turn over onto my other side a few times through the night. I hope you manage to get it sorted, it’s miserable!
