I am almost 7 weeks postpartum. My lochia is on and off. I was bleeding for 2 weeks and then it changed to mucus brown and pink discharge and all of sudden 4 weeks it turned red again. Again i was start spotting red for a week and then it changed to pink and creamy discharge and then again after 2-3 days it red and pink again. I had transvaginal ultrasound yesterday which was fine again once i am home. There is red spot again on pad with cramp. Is this happen to anyone? When it's going to stop?

Transvaginal? Is that the one with the probe inserted? I always bleed after those

daisydalrymple · 25/06/2021 10:18

I had prolonged bleeding after dc3. Not a large amount, but it did go on long enough for me to be referred for a scan. This showed a small amount of placenta had been left behind. Not enough to cause any concern or need any treatment for it, the bleeding eventually sorted itself out. If it’s bothering you though, do keep mentioning it to your GP.

@Theunamedcat yes same.

@daisydalrymple yes i had scan for the same. I had retained placenta which is was not coming out after 30 min of delivery. They manually removed it in theatre. They did scan for same yesterday and doctor confirmed there is nothing left behind.

Could this new bleeding be your periods starting again ?

Coxobaby · 25/06/2021 10:44

@jupitermars1345 if it is peroid then i think it will be continuous. But it's off for a week and then stay for a week then stop again. Then again start.

Stupid question when you have a 7wo baby...but are you actually resting enough?
Mine became heavier again when I was overdoing it (because I had a toddler too).

Congratulations on your baby! Thanks

Theunamedcat · 25/06/2021 12:09

If there is no retained product then you need to rest more up your healthy food intake /vitamins because your not healed yet

Coxobaby · 28/06/2021 17:56

@EPPM what do you mean by rest? I mean i am doing all household work and nothing else.

@Theunamedcat no retained product & swab test just came today and those were fine aswell. Noone have explanation to why i am having this. Gynaecologist said i don't know why it's ongoing.

@jupitermars1345 definitely not because it's been 3 weeks.

I mean actual rest, i.e. sitting on the sofa with your feet up, a nice drink, and maybe a snack. Or actually having a nap, in bed, when your baby is napping. You've just grown a whole other person inside your body and popped it out! Your body needs some rest and recovery time.
You're on Maternity Leave, not housework leave. The world won't end if you don't wash up in the morning, or run the vacuum over the downstairs floors etc- please prioritise care of you along with care of baby, and try to eat well and grab some rest Thanks
