Due September - can’t get comfortable when in bed!

I’m really struggling getting comfy in bed. This is second baby and I’ve a much bigger bump this time. Some ligament pain at the top of my legs.
My biggest issue is lying on my side all of the time. It hurts my hips and shoulders so much 😣. I just toss and turn all night. Each time I turn it hurts the ligaments in my legs / bottom of bump.
I’ve tried all manner of pillow arrangements / pregnancy pillows etc to no avail…
Throw your ideas at me! Prepared to try anything now…

Oh no ☹️ I just have the biggest pregnancy pillow and kind of grip one side of it between my knees then push the other side in behind my back so I don’t roll over. I really thought I’d find sleeping so hard but I’ve been fine. I am just desperate to lie on my back again though! Had really sore inner thighs last week and looking up the symptoms thought I was getting spd but it’s away again. I think everything just starts to hurt the closer it gets

I’m exactly the same! Second baby, due September, really struggling with hip pain from side sleeping. I have to take short breaks lying on my back whenever I wake up (10x a night) to soothe the hip pain before going back to sleep. The one thing that sometimes works, if I can get the positioning just so, is making my pregnancy pillow plus other pillows into a kind of long donut so I can put my bump through the hole and lie on my front. But I worry this could be dangerous and mostly I can’t get the arrangement quite right anyway. I’m exhausted!!!

I am also due in Sept and I was the same so I bought a pregnancy pillow for £34.99 (only one sided padding) I found this didn't help then I got another one for £16.99 on Amazon padding on both sides and much longer and this really helps. Don't know how I'd sleep without it now.

Aah ladies whilst I am glad it’s not just me, I wish it was as it’s just so unbearable!

I’m on pillow number 3 now. Actually think I find a normal pillow better. I put it between my legs and then the tiniest bit under my bump. I find the proper pregnancy pillows too thick under bump? And seem to stretch it up? Maybe I am positioning wrong…

We bought a memory foam mattress topper. It was expensive, about £200 for superking, but it has helped my pregnancy aches and pains so much. DH loves it too.

Have you been to a physio, osteopath or for a deep tissue massage? Try these, and try kinesiology tape to support your bump, pelvis and ligaments. Squats and yoga/pilates stretches might help too if you aren't doing anything like that already.

Due in sept also!
I frequently toss and turn on the night. Getting more conscious of not staying on my back for too long. Have some lower back pain but seems to be subsiding. I've been to physio and that seems to have helped

SHB2021 · 25/06/2021 18:20

I’ve not been for any physio or anything to be honest. I do think I need to get the ligament pain looked at though as starting to get significantly worse.
Starting some pregnancy yoga next week.
Am trying to do some more exercise - as I know this will help but it’s the getting started bit. Am used to being quite fit and have 3 horses to care for so don’t want to get to a pint where I’m struggling with that.
Thanks everyone.

I have a Dream- genie pregancy pillow that has a bit that supports your back as well as the long bit at the front which goes under your bump and between knees.. kind of looks like a backwards 'r'! Find it good as means I can lie somewhere between left side and on my back which I find most comfortable.

I think they are expensive to buy new but I got mine for a fiver from gumtree!
