Hi there everyone Smile
I’m 43 in July, 14 weeks 3 days and had my scan/bloods back. The hospital called to say I have a 1/26 risk of D/S, my mind is going absolutely crazy!
I have a 21 year old and 18 year old so big age gap!
Went today for NIPT, she said my age already created a starting point of 1/50, bloods were fine and scan showed 2.9 Nuchal reading. I’m still so worried, anyone else in the same boat?!

I think re your age contributing to risk, they are talking about the algorithm used for the NHS screening and not the NIPT testing. NIPT takes baby’s DNA from your DNA. I wouldn’t panic, as the NT measurement is good (well within normal) and the rest of the bloods are good, unfortunately it’s probably just your age that is increasing the ‘risk’ factor xx

I wouldn’t worry about your risk at all at the moment.

I am 38 and was told before my 12 week scan that my age would automatically put my risk as high.

With that in mind, I didn’t see the point in having the nhs bloods done as it would come back high risk and I’d then end up booking a nipt.

So I opted to skip the nhs combined bloods and instead booked a private nipt test.

Af the appointment I was given my pre blood test score that would be based on my age and scan markers alone. My nt measurement was 2.1 and combined with my age it put my risk high (something like 1:126).

I then had the blood taken and waited a week for the results. I then got results of 1:100,000 for all trisomies.

I had my 12 week nhs scan as normal but they didn’t take the bloods and didn’t measure the nuchal fold as I’d already had it covered privately.

Thank you so much for your comments, I really did floor me so you’ve put my mind at rest- just need to wait for the NIPT results now Smile

The hospital called today to say I was a low risk! Thank you for your messages, hopefully now I can relax and enjoy the ride now!

Thanks for posting an update! This has massively reassured me.. I'm in the same boat with a high result (I'm slightly younger and- 34) and went for NIPT yesterday so just waiting on the results to come back..

Hey there,
So glad I can reassure you a bit. It’s such a nerve wracking time! I wish I’d gone straight for the NIPT to be honest, it’s just prolonged the waiting. I hope all is well with your results, there does seem to be lots of false positives with the Nuchal scan result and bloods- it’s hard not to worry but so much great advice on here 😊
Please let me know how you get on, I’ve everything crossed for you x
