Do I need anything else? 🤔

So I'm due to have my first baby in August and I'm trying to make sure that we have everything we will need before he's born. I haven't bought much yet (still waiting for decision on sure start maternity grant application) but have been given loads of stuff from baby banks and will be getting some of the things here as gifts from parents (things I've asked for and have been told they'll get/have ordered).

The things I have so far are:
Baby clothes for the first 6 months as well as a few boxes of clothes in the next few sizes but not completed like the first couple of sizes.
Baby swimwear and swim nappies (planning to go to baby swimming classes)
About 8 packets of baby wipes (will probably buy another big box of these as I know I'll get through loads)
About 6 packs of size 1 nappies and a few nappies in size 0 and size 2 just in case
Loads of baby bath toiletries
Nappy rash cream
Talc
4 packets of cotton wool pads and 2 packs of cotton wool balls
10 baby towels
8 baby cloths and 4 baby sponges
Changing table and mat
Changing mat and nappy caddy for downstairs
About 10 muslin cloths (do I need more??)
About 20 bibs
10+ Dummies
Baby socks and soft shoes (although I'm not sure about using the shoes)
Breast pump
Nipple cream
Nipple shields
Nipple pads
Spritz for bitz
Perineal ice packs
Disposable underwear
Pads for after birth (but I'm thinking of getting some of those adult nappies too for the first week or so 🤔)
Baby sleeping bags in 0-6 months and a couple in 6-18 months
Loads of celluar blankets
Too many toys
Books
Car seat
Moses basket, mattress and sheets
Compact cot (for when he grows out of moses basket) and mattress - still need sheets
Cot bed, mattress and sheets
Pram with carrycot and pushchair for when he's sitting
Bouncer
Baby swing
Baby bath and bath seats
I've even got a few weaning things and a jumperoo for later on but still don't feel like I have everything 🤷‍♀️

@SmidgenofaPigeon we don't have much room at all tbh :( Half of the stuff is being stored at my parents house or in the shed until it's needed 🙈

You are very prepared. I am due in August too, I only have a few things but I need to finish getting ready too, Aug is approaching fast.

You sound a bit like me, it’s good to be organised as you get good bargains when you have time to shop around & there’s no harm in putting aside gifted things/ hand me downs ready for when you need them. Not everyone can afford last minute emergency purchases!

If you are breastfeeding you will need a couple of nursing bras so save some money in your budget for those- you can get fitted for these in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

A changing bag of some sort for out and about is also a must but you can adapt a large handbag/ rucksack/ overnight bag by adding a few wash bags as the internal pouches & a folding changing mat 👍 (pound shops often have these in their baby section 😊)

At this point I’d be horrified if people gave us loads of stuff that we didn’t need for ages-I’ve really had to be really firm on that because we are still in a flat with no storage space and it’s been bad enough seeing the essentials pile up Blush

I've had to take a bunch of stuff to the charity shop because I can't stand having stuff I don't need in the house because someone thinks I "might need it in X months".

That’s seems loads of stuff tbh. At 1+ year we have never used cotton wool or wipes ( just flannels wet to wipe bum and wash), and just use a normal towel to dry baby, got given a baby towel and it was tiny!

Remember shops are open. Our baby was born at the height of Covid lockdown, when many shops were closed and deliveries taking ages. It wasn’t a problem tbh. We only bought newborn and some 0-3 before baby was born, and it’s still be fine to source stuff as needed.

You don’t want everything at one. Ie highchair used from 6 months no need to have taking up space before needed as by then you might get rid of other things to make space
