2nd Pfizer after 3 weeks?

Sheisfee · 24/06/2021 13:51

I’ve just read there are some walk in vaccination opening tomorrow but I only had my Pfizer 3 weeks ago at 29 weeks pregnant. I’ll check with the 119 covid info but I’m seeing if there are any other pregnant people that have had theirs that close together? Xx

I’m also trying to get mine sooner. I think it has to be an 8 week gap.

I’ve moved mine to a 9 week gap by changing it online x

YorkshireSunshine · 24/06/2021 14:13

I got my second vaccine at a drop in 5 weeks after my first, they said as long as it had been over 21 days it was fine

Girlmama3 · 24/06/2021 16:02

@YorkshireSunshine That’s good news. Maybe I’ll try a drop in centre. There are loads around her now.

Sheisfee · 24/06/2021 16:18

@YorkshireSunshine amazing thanks for this. I may just go for it tomorrow then

Hi @Sheisfee I had two doses of Pfizer, 3 weeks apart, in February and March due to being on a high risk list. First dose at 14 weeks, second at 17. Everything was fine. Had lots of monitoring since then and baby is perfect.

ThatLibraryMiss · 24/06/2021 16:54

It was initially supposed to be three weeks apart, wasn't it? They changed it to three months to get as many first doses into arms as possible.

Micemakingclothes · 24/06/2021 16:59

It’s supposed to be 3 weeks. The longer gap was not how the shot was designed to be given.

squiglet111 · 24/06/2021 17:01

I had my second yesterday after 5 weeks. Heard some people being turned away with 3 weeks gap. They people said it had to be at least 4 week gap. But different places might have different rules? Depends on how many spare jabs they have and how many people are turning up

choccrumpet · 24/06/2021 18:18

I was reading a study recently and annoyingly can't find the link to it now, but it said that the Pfizer vaccine gap must be a minimum of 3 weeks. The 8-12 week gap is something that UK has decided on, whether that's to allow time to vaccinate as many people as possible with their first ones, I'm not sure.

Other countries have smaller gaps, Ireland for example has a 3 week gap between the 2 doses. 3 weeks and you're fully vaccinated. It's amazing. I would love to have that here and not have to wait so long to be fully protected. So go for it if you get the opportunity. I'm hoping to be able to do the same in a few weeks time.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 24/06/2021 18:21

yes, that's right

we had an invitation last week for Pfizer it said if 2nd jab then at least 21 days from 1st

choccrumpet · 24/06/2021 19:50

I was slightly wrong, in Ireland it's 28 days for public, Pfizer has been vaccinating families of their employees and that's 3 weeks apart 😊

Ritamarie85 · 24/06/2021 22:07

I had mine in the US (just moved back to the Uk) . I had mine three weeks apart exactly. And I’m glad I did as that’s how the vaccine is meant to be given. They’re very strict in The US about sticking to the 21days x

Sheisfee · 24/06/2021 22:31

Thanks so much everyone! I’m just going to go to the walk in tomorrow & hope they give it to me. I don’t see a reason that they wouldn’t x

Hey all, I went to the walk in clinic this morning at 21 days past my 1st dose and they happily gave me my 2nd. They let me skip the queue and I spoke with the DR just to double check and then had my vaccine. So if you’re wanting to fast track your 2nd dose then there is always this option xx

That’s great! Thank you for updating. It seems walk in clinics are the way forward.

I’ll give it a go…

ursuslemonade · 25/06/2021 10:31

Got an e-mail from my borough about the walk-in clinic, stating that they'll give 2nd doses 8 weeks apart. I've had my first over a month ago but I'll chance it. I am beyond frustrated with the delay.

choccrumpet · 25/06/2021 10:52

@Sheisfee that's amazing!! Thanks for updating. I've got a walk in clinic near me but so far they're only advertising it for first doses, I'm not sure if they'll allow a second one but definitely worth a try

Sheisfee · 25/06/2021 11:14

The nurse said to me I have a medical need so if you turn up and they see you’re pregnant then they’ll probably be more inclined. Also, let them know that with Pfizer the second dose can be given from 21 days and that you’ve read the research to confirm this x

@ursuslemonade the above post was aimed at you x

@Girlmama3 fingers crossed you get it x

Ahh thanks OP but I'm just butting in on your thread, I'm not pregnant.

Sheisfee · 25/06/2021 11:25

@ursuslemonade haha! Butt away - the more people who get it the better in my opinion x

I've just seen I've got a few local ones advertising giving second doses so I will be trying on day 22 with my partner and hoping they will give it to us both. Thank you for the tips on what to say @Sheisfee !

shivawn · 25/06/2021 14:15

Pfizer has always been given 3-4 weeks apart here in Ireland, thats actually the manufacturers recommendation and the way it should be given! I had mine exactly 3 weeks apart.
