Hi there, I need some advice I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant, I’m having mild shooting pains in my lower left abdomen occasionally. Is that normal I’ve read that it could b ‘growing pains’ from everything moving but I’m so worried as I had a miscarriage before x

Hey girly! I'm 6+4 and had shooting pains but when I went in for an early scan everything was fine!

I've had two consecutive miscarriages so these occasional twinges were scaring me but I can tell you that you're definitely growing a little miracle in there with a few pain here & there.

As long as you're not experiencing any clotting & whatnot, you're good to go mamaaaa

No clotting, spotting nothing just cramping in one side. It’s just worrying me from my mc too!xxx

I went to a&e with cramping on left side on Monday, they did every test possible, except for a scan.

A&e sent an email to gynaecology outpatients, who then booked me in for an emergency scan on Wednesday.

I was really worried they'd be annoyed with me as I was only 5 weeks, but they were so kind and kept saying they are always happy to scan people even if it's just for reassurance - so I'd ask your hospital, say the pains your having and they should book you an appointment.

My scan didn't show anything as I was only 5 weeks but I am having further treatment with them now thankfully. And I have another scan at 6 weeks 4 days to see if anything has appeared by then.

Best of luck!

@Babydust76 I've had those weird twingy pains also, and have had a miscarriage before, so really empathise. I had a private scan yesterday, and all looked okay. I'm just over seven weeks. I used Ultrasound Direct, it was £70, they fitted me in same day and it was a really good experience. Lovely sonographer, nice room, partner was allowed in with me, and they even warmed the gel

Please don't lie to the EPU, that's awful. I've been there for suspected ectopic before, women with bleeding and suspected ectopics are waiting hours to get seen. To lie just to try to get a free scan adds to the problem

If you have the funds, then pay for a private scan, but do not lie to get a scan at the EPU. I’ve had to wait an agonising amount of time to be seen by them, as they were so busy, and people exaggerating symptoms to get a “free scan” makes the problem a whole lot worse.

Babydust76 · 24/06/2021 21:11

I’m not going to lie, don’t agree with that! I’m just going to ask my midwife if I can have an early appointment if she says I won’t b able to I’ll just go private x
