Hi everyone, i’m a first time mum to be and getting myself in a spin with all the different baby clothes! I think this is a stupid question, but here goes! I’ve bought a few sets like this for upto 6 months with a long sleeve vest and leggings, am i supposed to put a short sleeve vest under this too? Or will two lots of poppers be uncomfortable? She’s due in September so don’t want to underestimate layers!

any advice for someone with no clue would be brilliant, thankyou!

Yep, you can put a bodysuit under that - either long sleeve, short sleeve or sleeveless depending on the temperature. And then potentially a cardigan or something on top of that. If the leggings don’t have feet on, you’ll also need to think about socks if it’s a bit nippy.

I wouldn't put a second vest under.
I would have some cardigans to go over.

(no hoods, they are a pain)

You are going to have more trouble keeping socks on, which is why so many people use all in one baby grows for first few months.

Can I caution against getting too much?
My kids were all different shapes - long and skinny, short and cubby etc, and to one was really comfy in one style and the other couldn't wear that at all.
Same with colours, it is surprising how much they suit/don't suit certain colours even at an early age.

I wouldn't put a short sleeve vest under that because generally if they're wearing that sort of outfit, it's daytime and you can just add a little cardigan or jumper on top if it's a bit chilly. She won't be uncomfortable because she won't feel the poppers, due to wearing a nappy :)

Mine lived in leggings and bodysuits like that from about 3 months onwards. Before that, they lived in sleepsuits, sometimes with with a short-sleeved bodysuit underneath at night if it was cold. You'll work out what works for you and her as you go :)

The rule is always an extra layer than what you're wearing. So always assumed the vest/bodysuit is the extra layer. So I would put a long sleeve t-shirt over or a short sleeve t-shirt over the vest (and get the cute skater look I love) for days when it's not that chilly (ie you're in a t-shirt or long sleeve top) and then add a jumper if it's cold (ie you're wearing a t-shirt and jumper).

I wouldn't,it would be so uncomfortable with all poppers there and a nappy.
A normal, crotchless vest or cardigan should be fine.

I put a little vest type body suit on (also had a Sept baby) with those little baby gros.

SillyBry · 24/06/2021 11:55

Personally, I would be putting that on with a cardigan if its cold enough.
For the first 3 months, mine wore vests and sleepsuits, then graduated to long sleeved vests and leggings pretty much for ease of putting on, but looking a bit more like a real outfit!

@MrsJLK sorry, no advice from me as a first time mum to be, but that set is so cute! Where is it from?
