Hi,

I was 9 weeks pregnant Friday when I started spotting lightly (brown) no pain was told nothing to worry about but I wanted reassurance so midwife got me an early pregnancy clinic apt and scan. I would be 9 weeks plus 5 days pregnant today when they scanned. Was told by the radiographer they had to do an internal due to tilting uterus they couldn't see anything and asked was I sure about my dates which I said yes. They said they were sorry no heart beat there is a sac about 1.5cm and 4ml baby measuring 5 weeks 1 day no heartbeat. Devastated and heartbroken but then when I went back to the nurse in the unit to discuss she almost gave me false hope to say there is a chance it's too early for a heartbeat we will rescan in ten days because they can't do anything until they know for certain. I know a lot of women go through this and I am wondering if anyone has had any positive or similar stories. I have miscarried at 5.5 weeks before my ds who is 16 months old I'm so blessed, I did bleed on that miscarriage. I am regular 31-33 day cycle I get symptoms of ovulation and track it etc. I had a missed period and positive tests which got darker each time as the days went on. I tested until about 6 weeks because I had some and I was curious why no symptoms like my last pregnancy. I am fully prepared and have in my head it's a miscarriage but there is naturally a smidge of hope.

I think it is policy that they need to rescan after a week/two weeks, just to make sure that nothing is missed.

Big hugs!

So I've started to bleed naturally and properly today which I guess it's good the miscarriage is happening without intervention and I don't have to wait 10 days to know if there is a viable pregnancy. Heartbroken but glad I can start to move on and grief. Thanks for your reply.

I am so sorry! Be gentle with yourself!

I would still go to the scheduled scan as they can check you for retained tissue.
I still needed some tablets to pass the rest of the pregnancy despite bleeding quite a lot for 2 weeks.
