Coil in pregnancy

I’ve found out this week I’m pregnant possibly in the early weeks but have a Mirena coil fitted. My GP just told me to take folic acid and monitor for any issues. However I feel like given the risks I’ve read about of IUD’s in pregnancy that I should be being seen for tests or checks. Does anyone have any experience of what’s the norm in this situation?

A mirena should really be removed if you're pregnant as it can cause issues with the pregnancy

They should check where the coil is, internal exam and/or scans ASAP. They may remove it if it's still in place and will run through any risks. Good luck

When I got a positive test after having a copper coil the GP did an internal exam and couldn't see any strings. I was referred to epau the next day for scans, they did abdominal and internal. No coil found but 2 strong heartbeats, our twins are 6 now.
