Hi,

I am 10 weeks pregnant and recently had my first set of bloods taken and everything has come back as normal, except I have high ferritin levels.

I have to go back for another blood test but was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this and what was the outcome.

Hi, I found out at my 16 week appt that my bloods taken at booking showed high ferritin levels so they retook bloods. I presume all was fine as I never heard back. I asked what could cause it (I'm normally on the low side being vegetarian) and midwife said dehydration can cause it. At the time of my booking bloods I was very dehydrated as had terrible first trimester sickness and could barely drink.
So can't help you much but maybe if you were being sick at time of bloods could hsve been dehydrated too?

Just to add I did Google dehydration and ffrct on ferritin levels afterwards and couldn't find anything but because I never heard back from second bloods I didn't look into it in any depth.

@Jeds55 thanks for your reply. I have been suffering quite badly with morning sickness and struggling to eat or drink much. So dehydration would make sense. Fingers crossed that’s all it is!
