Bleeding at 20+6 weeks

I had a rather vigorous 20 week ultrasound yesterday as baby was in a funny position the sonographer couldn’t get a good view of everything (I have to go back in a few days). It was very uncomfortable at times as she was digging around and I she asked me to shake my tummy to get him to move twice. Today I have some red blood in my knickers and I can’t get hold of any midwives. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I had a subchoironic haematoma at 6/7 weeks and spotting but that stopped after a week, and I haven’t had any since, so this has worried me a little.

Grateful for any experience

Can you ring the hospital where they did they scan and ask for advice?

Can you call triage? My maternity hospital accepted calls on the labour number for anything past 20 weeks. Maybe check your pregnancy notes

Thank you, I didn’t think it was an emergency so didn’t call the triage number at first but after your message I did and they said best to go in and get checked over. It’s apparently busy this evening and I have a toddler to put to bed so will go in the morning if I still have the spotting

Yep I had this exact thing. Had my 20 week scan which, like yours, involved lots of digging in with the probe due to baby in awkward position and ended up very tender after.

Was in maternity assessment unit that same evening due to brown bleeding. Everything was fine with baby and settled down after a day or two.

I know it is very unnerving but I'm sure everything will be fine. Good to get checked out though to be sure so you're wise to go in tomorrow.

Good luck x

Thank you @LunaDreams I’m fairly sure that’s what it was, possibly aggravated the haematoma I have sitting there. I wish she’d just said we can’t see enough, come back, than dig around and then make me come back anyway!!

My 20 week scan caused spotting but it was only the tiniest bit of red dots, like you I was getting poked and prodded with quite a bit of pressure and it hurt a lot once I went home. I hope it’s very minor and everything is okay for you. Let us know how you get on x
