Hello ladies, just looking for some reassurance or anybody that's in a similar position.

I've been having false positive pregnancy tests since July last year, every brand I did come up a strong positive apart from first response.. But every time my bloods were done my hcg levels were 0. I don't think I was ever actually pregnant. Never got to the bottom of why this was happening. The whole situation was heart breaking, I convinced myself I was pregnant almost every month to then get my bloods done and they were negative.

My last period started the 18th of May, I was late for my period this month so took a first response test(the brand that's always stayed negative) on Friday which came up very strong positive. I rushed to the doctors for my bloods done as this is the only way to confirm a pregnancy for me.
I've just got my results today and my HCG levels were 58, I would have been 4 weeks 3 days going by the date of my last period when the bloods were taken. I'm booked back in tomorrow for bloods to see if they have risen but won't get the results of those until Wednesday.

Is 58 very low for 4 weeks 3 days? Should I be preparing myself for the worst? Or is it possible I've ovulated/implanted later than I thought? Has anybody else had low hcg levels and everything turned out OK?

Please tell me your stories or even keep me distracted, my daughters currently having to isolate which means I'm stuck at home and it's certainly not helping!!

Thanks in advance.

Hello, i had slow rising Hcg levels in my last pregnancy, i would google all the time about it. I have just had a quick check and it says between 5-426 is normal for 4 weeks. The most important thing here is that it doubles in 48 -72 hours.

Fx for you!!

Also my slow rising hcg, led to early scans where there was only a gestational sack and lots of panic and worry yet 1 week later there was a baby with a little hb measuring 6 weeks!!! So it can happen xx

Hi @cookielove

I've seen that on Google too, that from as low as 5 can be normal, it has reassured me slightly but then I've looked at threads on here and have seen people with levels in to the 200s and those being classed as low and the outcome not always being good.

I don't know why we do this to ourselves drive ourselves mad on Google and forums!! The waiting game just isn't fun, but I know that's all I can do wait and I'll hopefully have a better idea in a few days.

I get bloods done tomorrow so will have results Wednesday so will update the thread then. Xx

Well every case is different but this is what happened to me:

Tested at 4 days early and got the strip test result, then a few days later the frer. Straight away i started bleeding and bled for 4 days proper bleeding!

I tested after the weekend expecting to see a negative but my positive got stronger. As i had history of miscarriages my dr tested my hcg it came back as 18 she wasn't hopeful as it was so low. I had it tested again and it was 72 ish i think but it was over the weekend so more like 4 days. I got my hcg tested again and it was in the 300.

That was when she referred me to the epu. My first scan i had a gestational sac and a yolk sac but no baby, measuring 3-4 weeks, i was so sure it was over as i knew my dates but there he was in my 2nd scan.

And now he is 1!

@cookielove oh wow that's reassuring thank you. So pleased it all worked out for you Smile

My first response tests were very strong I took one on Friday one on Saturday. I've ordered some more they'll be delivered tomorrow, curious to see if the lines still as dark while I'm waiting on blood results, might give me a better idea so I can prepare for the worst if the lines fade.

But thank you, you've put my mind at rest abit. Hopefully I'm just earlier than I thought Smile xx

So at 3 weeks 5 days my levels were 45, they are meant to double every 48 hours so I was expecting 90. However when I went back it was 157… the following week I was in the thousands. It can rise very quickly once you have some HCG level, you likely implanted a few days later than me.. I implanted very early (I had fertility treatment so my dates are all exact). I’m now almost 33 weeks pregnant with That little 45 HCG twinkle. Keeping my fingers crossed for you for a good rise, also remember you just need to see it double, that number is unique for you and the first number is not as important as long as the second doubles.

Also… www.instagram.com/p/CHI4y70hyQ_/?utm_medium=copy_link this lady just had her baby. Her HCG at 4 weeks exactly (she did IVF) was 18… he’s now an 8lb baby

@BabyC21thank you for commenting it's given me alot of hope Smile it just shows every woman is different and the starting hcg levels don't matter, as long as they increase as they should. Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy hope it goes smoothly.

I've just done another first response and the line is darker than the control line this time, not even my first wee of the day either so that's making me think my levels have probably increased, because they were low to start with I think if they'd dropped the test would have been much fainter by now. Feeling alot better today Smile I'll find out for sure tomorrow but fingers crossed!!
