PCOS and being pregnant

Wondering if there is a thread for this already?

Found out a couple of years ago I have PCOS. Felt nigh on impossible to get pregnant. Haven't had a period since January time but testing in that time was showing negative. Tested again after DP made a stupid joke on fathers day and it was a super strong positive!

PCOS never got managed because the GP kept demanding I only get a blood test while on my period which was impossible, because they happened rarely and lasted 2-3 days! What additional things do I need to worry about when pregnant with PCOS? I am at a total loss to be honest.

Hi,

Hoping I can help a little!
Have PCOS and have 2 DSs, one 3 next month and other 5month today.
DS1 was very straight forward, found out at 23weeks that I was pregnant with him. DS2 little more complicated, developed gestational diabetes which was told may have been down to PCOS as I struggle with my weight due to it.
But apart from that, they were pretty straight forward in terms of PCOS.
HTH. and congratulations!!

I'm on pregnancy number 3 and have PCOS. I've had no issues relating to that x

Congrats!

I also have PCOS - the only thing I can think of is elevated risk of gestational diabetes, so being careful with that.

The only thing I had was a slightly higher risk of GD, so they'll test you for that. In the meantime make sure you stick to complex carbs and protein if you can and low sugar. Basically the standard pcos diet.

Congratulations!

I have PCOS but I'm a bit of an oddity I think, in that I have never struggled to get pregnant - just to stay pregnant.

Currently 4w3d with my 8th pregnancy, hoping for my 3rd baby.

Aside from my losses, PCOS has never caused me any additional issues in pregnancy.

Same, it's not been an issue in either of my pregs. I managed my PCOS pre-pregnancy with inositol supplements, which are great. My weight is in normal range.
You could try inositol supplements if you wanted to - it's been shown to lower the risk of GD, easy to Google study if you want to see it. Apart from GD I don't think there are any issues to worry about. I have heard that there may be an increased chance of early miscarriage, but I think different studies have shown different results on that. Or maybe it varies person to person?

For me, pics lead to an increased risk of miscarriage and early pregnancy was supported with progesterone daily. Otherwise be careful to do all you can to avoid gestational diabetes and I had tests for that later in pregnancy.
