Looking for some book recommendations for my 5 1/2 yr old to help explain about the baby in my tummy & also about him becoming a big brother.
Thanks

My two love “There’s a house inside my mummy” but it’s maybe a little babyish for a 5/6yo (mine are 4 and 2). Sorry that’s not very helpful!

My 5 year old loved there's a house in mummy's tummy

Thanks @Aozora13
I had seen that one & did think a slightly older version of it would be perfect but if it doesn't exist I'll likely still get it. I think he'll enjoy it. I liked that it called out mummy being sick & tired which sums me up right now lol

Is the 6 year old your first child? If so, there's a lovely book called "you were the first"
My 5 year old loved it and it made us all emotional! Lovely book

@HappyGirl86 yes he's my first.. I definitely check that out thank you!

Ah brill, it's a lovely book to keep in their memory box/on their bookshelf as well. You could write in the front to say it was given to him when his sibling was on the way.
If you can't find any other books you could make a scrapbook with him about becoming a big brother, maybe stick some pictures in, get him to write some sentences about being a big brother. Gives you something to talk around and writing practice for him!
If he has any worries or questions he can ask them then too.

@LilmissCa yes I have a lot of empathy for the knackered mummy asleep on the sofa and it’s actually been handy for saying “…like the mummy in the book”. We read it a lot (at the kids’ insistence!)

LilmissCa · 21/06/2021 23:55

@Aozora13 haha yes.. I can hear that phrase already!
