Yes it's quite normal.... when it's twins [grins]

DSD (21) (first pregnancy) was wondering why she was showing at ten weeks.. that was the reason!

hollygiz1 · 21/11/2007 19:29

really i have no twins in family?

i was showing a bit at 11 weeks and was only carrying one child. i looked like my bellywas going to roll off me by the time i hit 24 weeks

daisynova · 21/11/2007 19:32

I started to showing at 8 weeks - think it shows more if you are slim usually.

CarGirl · 21/11/2007 19:33

quick go and get some multiple birth insurance before your scan.............TBH I think it may just depend on you and how your body reacts to hormones etc.

Are you very slim/average/big and how strong are your tummy muscles

hollygiz1 · 21/11/2007 19:34

Oh good makes me feel abit better, have scan in 2 weeks so will confirm how far on i really are, pretty sure i am bout 10 weeks though, had to go shopping for bigger clothes already.

Im currently 7weeks and already work colleagues have commented on my bump.

Lots of people have joked about it being Twins! My mum is a Twin which is scary!

The more I hear people saying it the scarier it becomes.

Expecting to get my first Midwifes appointment in a few weeks so hopefully she can shed some light for me.

windowcleaner · 21/11/2007 19:37

I was 8 weeks preg when I started showing on my second pregnancy. I put it down to not having regained my figure after DD.......but it was TWINS!!!!!

slim22 · 22/11/2007 06:25

If you do not have strong abs, then this often due to very sluggish digestion and hormones relaxing everything. Don't go into about having twins just yet.
congratulations!

makecakesnotwar · 22/11/2007 16:51

Twins usually skip a generation, don't they???

I'm 13 weeks. I'm not thin. I come from a family who show early and have been developing a lovely tummy since 9 weeks. 13 weeks today and I'm in to maternity clothes. It's definitely not twins....

boabsmum · 22/11/2007 17:05

Agree with slim

Muscles turn to jelly when the relaxin hormone kicks in. I showed a bump at about 9 weeks, but it's not baby at that point - just belly - because baby's still firmly wedged in your pelvis and won't/can't move up and out until 12 weeks or so.

I'm now 18 weeks and measure correctly for my dates, but also have previous belly from my other two babies making me look much further on than I am. My real baby bump is quite high up, but I have "overhang" left over from my section with ds

Think of it as a badge of honour

Oh, don't say this - have just found out I'm pregnant again (6 weeks) and dreading it might be twins (twins in the family, y'see). Already got 2 dds, would love a third but not a fourth
Actually, really posting because I want to tell someone I'm pregnant but dh prefers to wait until after 12 weeks, so can't tell anyone yet so telling cyberspace instead

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/11/2007 16:57

Congratulations Poledra, your secret is safe with us

I'm also in my first pregnancy, size 12 before pregnancy. You might think that you are showing, but it might not be obvious yet to other people. I was very aware of it but nobody else seemed to notice until three months. I was too big for normal clothes but too small for maternity. Don't worry about the size. Only listen to Dr/Midwife etc and tune out other people.
