Clomid ovulating on your own

Having been ttc for 10 cycles, I've got to a point where I want to try something else, I have 3 months supply of clomid and I have seen a few stories where women have taken them in the same situation and it worked for them, I'm interested to hear your stories if this applied to you, I feel I have nothing to lose before I have my fertility consultation in July, I'm 40 and feel under pressure to react quickly. Thanks

I know it varies place to place - are you not meant to take clomid under observation (eg scans) the first couple of times in case you become hyperstimulated (which poses a risk to you and to your ovaries)? Or do you mean its been offered as a treatment prior to IVF?

(Im in the year wait before I can be referred to fertility services here but clearly am not ovulating, so am interested!)

I didn't ovulate. In the 6 months before clomid I did manage to have some cycles with ovulation so I was unsure if clomid was the right choice. My cycles were still irregular so consultant still wanted me to try clomid.

I got pregnant first cycle on clomid. I have to say though clomid caused me lots of pains, lower back ache and headaches.

I'm not doing IVF just yet, I keep getting told I don't need it, I have a 3 year old, but I'm feeling so much pressure about age that I just feel I need to try clomid, before I think about IVF @TheDaydreamBelievers

@Ronnii how irregular were your cycles? Mine range from 24 to 33 days

I took Clomid to conceive.

I have PCOS, so initially my cycles were wildly irregular, often over 100 days. I very rarely ovulate. Metformin got the cycles down to a regular 32 days, but I still wasn't ovulating. After the first dose of Clomid, the scan showed I had two mature follicles, one of which resulted in DD. No other side effects that I remember.

Forgot to say I have PCOS, which before I knew and it was uncontrolled I had months of no cycle but I got it down to 5-7 week cycles.

Ronnii · 21/06/2021 00:21

@Sef89 your cycle days sound good. My gp gave me weekly progesterone blood test from D21 to check for ovulation.

tinyradish · 21/06/2021 00:23

I conceived on clomid first round. Wasn't ovulating (or I was, but very rarely, on my own!)
