Great you had nice dinners and good readings after @GWhiteley and @Bubbles1st

I've had a decaf coffee with milk in the hour time slot and whilst I couldn't say if it changed the reading, it didn't push it over.

@CherLW I braved trying no added sugar baked beans this morning - had half a small tin with some mushrooms and a couple of slices of halloumi and had a low reading after!

GWhiteley · 27/06/2021 10:01

That's good to know @bewitchingnight. We've been having the no added sugar beans for a while for one reason or another, good to know I could have some & potentially not have a high reading. Though I guess it depends on what you have them with

bewitchingnight · 27/06/2021 10:43

@GWhiteley I was trying to make sure they were the carb and usually I would have had the whole tin but thought I should keep it small! Made a nice change from endless eggs at least

Bubbles1st · 27/06/2021 11:56

Oh I've had a small win! I forgot my metformin at breakfast (again) but today despite having a protein bagel it was still under! So happy 😆

bewitchingnight · 27/06/2021 12:31

Woohoo! That's great!

AdventuresAwait · 27/06/2021 12:45

Yay! @Bubbles1st 🥳

CherLW · 27/06/2021 18:45

@bewitchingnight that’s good to know!

I went to a wedding Friday and had a cupcake!! I couldn’t not and surprisingly my reading was fine! I wouldn’t do it normally but as it was a wedding I thought why not! It took ages to eat it as I was enjoying it so much 😂

GWhiteley · 27/06/2021 22:11

@CherLW oh I am so totally jealous! I walked past double choc muffins in the supermarket yesterday & was so unbelievably tempted it was unreal.

CherLW · 27/06/2021 22:19

@GWhiteley it’s crazy isn’t it!! I want all the things I can’t have! It’s ok tho as I feel like I won’t give in (apart from yesterday) as it’s for my baby… if I was just on a regular diet I would have definitely caved by now 😂

OP posts:
GWhiteley · 27/06/2021 22:22

@CherLW oh totally if it were a normal diet 😂

But when they tell you your baby could be at risk it definitely puts things into perspective, especially when you've already spent over 6 months growing them. I'm just going to write a list of all the things I want once baby is here & make do with that for now. Only 9 weeks & 5 days!

Bubbles1st · 27/06/2021 22:22

@CherLW it's weird isn't it how instinct to protect and will power to follow through is there. I've never eaten with good intention for this long before without cracking for a day!

CherLW · 27/06/2021 22:27

@GWhiteley a list is a good idea.. mine is huge 😂 I saw on a gestational diabetes website regarding what to pack for hospital it said ‘post GD treats, it’s the law, you have too’ 😂 they don’t have to tell me twice!!

@Bubbles1st i know exactly how you feel! It’s strange as I’m not just thinking of myself now… I know if effects him too 💙

OP posts:
bewitchingnight · 28/06/2021 07:54

Omg you're all so right, if I had tried to make myself eat like this as some sort of diet I'd absolutely have no willpower to do it, but it's completely different when pregnant!

I also have a food list on the go... it's quite eclectic so far!

GWhiteley · 28/06/2021 14:00

How is it I've had exactly the same sandwich today as I had yesterday & yet yesterday my reading was 7.1 & today it's 9.2?! Also had a high fasting reading this morning even though I haven't changed anything 🤷‍♀️

CherLW · 28/06/2021 18:14

@GWhiteley that’s strange! I really don’t get it! Would it have been what you had for dinner last night and it continued?
I’m So confused by it all!

OP posts:
GWhiteley · 28/06/2021 18:21

@CherLW no clue. I'm going to have egg mayo & cress tomorrow for lunch & im reverting back to the bread I was having before as didn't have any high readings with that one.

I did have my yoghurt & then realise I still needed to make up my bed before having a shower & going to bed so maybe that affected it. Bit fed up of the high readings though

CherLW · 28/06/2021 18:35

@GWhiteley The mix of the high readings and the confusion of how it works isn’t easy. I really do feel for you… it is a lot to get our heads round tho so don’t let it get to you. Stick to the things you know work like the bread.

Can you call anyone from the diabetic team and discuss things with them?

OP posts:
GWhiteley · 28/06/2021 18:40

@CherLW they're due to review my readings either tomorrow or weds so will have to see what they say

CherLW · 28/06/2021 18:44

@GWhiteley that’s good it’s not too long. I really hope it goes ok, will be thinking of you x

OP posts:
Bubbles1st · 28/06/2021 18:59

@GWhiteley how active you were and how much you drank after can have a big impact.
I went back to bed after breakfast this
Morning for a lay down, big
Mistake hugest breakfast reading yet despite the metformin!

Went out for lunch though and some how avoid carbs altogether it seemed and had lowest reading so far.

So difficult to get the balance right!

CherLW · 28/06/2021 19:17

@Bubbles1st is drinking more after your final reading for the day more beneficial? Sorry if it’s a stupid question.
After Dinner I usually stop drinking due to the million night time wees and I’m not very active at that time of evening either!

OP posts:
GWhiteley · 28/06/2021 19:17

Thanks @CherLW

That's interesting to know @Bubbles1st, as when I had the sandwich yesterday I walked to the loos & back while waiting for hubby to go & sort something out, whereas today I sat at my desk & read my book afterwards.

There just doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason sometimes

Bubbles1st · 28/06/2021 19:31

@CherLW ultimately yes it will be a benefit, however poor sleep can cause high readings.... so I just drink after my meal until last reading and then sip until bedtime. But also make sure I drink every time I get up for a wee in the night.

@GWhiteley that could have definitely affected your reading then.

CherLW · 28/06/2021 19:34

@Bubbles1st I’m going to do that tonight… keep a glass of water handy to have a drink of every time I get up. Anything to help keep the readings low! Thank you x

The dietician said even things like stress and sleep can have an impact, so hard trying to balance everything! Hope they can shed a bit of light when you have your call.
