When do we all think a 2nd birthing partner will be allowed again? I'm not due till 31st October, I was hopeful I could have both my partner and mum with me at the birth but it's really not liking likely now. It's not the end of the world of course, just curious ☺️

My trust has just announced they will be having two birthing partners from now on. Fingers crossed more follow suit! We are in the south and currently have low (but increasing) Case numbers

I doubt it tbh.

The rules at hospitals are extremely strict atm and with all this talk of delays and new waves I wouldn't be hopeful of rules changing this year.

My trust have no intention of re instating 2 birthing partners at present. Same with support partners during scans.

I doubt it. It's very difficult right now with the limitations but whilst I understand the reasons i think it's quite cruel.

I only chose to have my partner present but in hindsight wish I'd had my mum as well, I'd chose that for future if possible.

My son (18 months ) recently had surgery and only one parent was allowed. It was incredibly difficult for his Dad to not even be there or allowed to visit and sitting alone for hours whilst he was in theatre was pretty horrid for me too.

Im sure it's the same for people in all sorts of difficult situations.

It's utterly shit but I'd prepared to have just one person.

I am due to give birth soon and the consultant at my Trust seemed to think it would be one birthing partner for a while yet. My DH is relieved because he feels my DM gets over-involved but she was invaluable as a second birthing partner a few years ago when everything went wrong for me.

Oh that's such a shame! My partner has been allowed to all my scans (except a very early one I had at 6 weeks). I'm not too hopeful about have 2 birthing partners though x

Yes I'm thinking along the same lines as all of you, it's looking unlikely isn't it. I'd love my mum there but equally want my partner there too as it's our first baby. Just means il have to have another one in a few years so my mum can be there 😁

My daughter is due on the same day as you and we had this same conversation today!

Hmmm, is this you? Grin

lockdownbabyx · 16/06/2021 21:49

@dalmatianmad haha really! No I haven't spoken to my mum about this today. Weird though 😁 x

My trust (SW) is allowing two people in, both must wear masks though. So, it could change. It seems to vary everywhere.

dalmatianmad · 16/06/2021 22:06

OK I got a little freaked then!

She said she wasn't sure if she wanted me to be there anyway because I won't be sympathetic enough Confused

Newmama29 · 16/06/2021 22:18

I was allowed 2 birthing partners last September (in Scotland) so hopefully you’ll be allowed by October if restrictions are easing more & more

NcagainNC · 16/06/2021 22:19

My sister is having a baby and has been told by her midwife that her trust is now allowing 2 partners

Peanut91 · 16/06/2021 22:28

My trust is now allowing two birth partners and have done since end of last month

wingingit987 · 16/06/2021 22:33

My trust has 2 birthing partners again both do lateral flows on arrival.

Nat4392 · 17/06/2021 07:55

My trust has allowed 2 birthing partners since April so I had both my mum and husband. It varies drastically hospital to hospital. I was very fortunate.
