Vaginal birth with heavier baby?

Hi everyone. I am 39 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Just found out my baby is currently weighing an estimated weight of 9.1 pounds. I am hoping to have a vbac (my first child was Breech and was delivered a week early by scheduled c - section). But now I know this baby is on the heavier side I am wondering what my chances are for a successful vaginal birth.

Would love to hear some experiences of vaginal labor with heavy babies. Medicated/ no meds... any vbacs with heavier baby would be especially helpful.

Thanks so much!

My third was 10lb 3oz. Delivered without any pain relief. No harder than previous birth of just under 8lb.

Gravity is your friend.

@Gingerspice100

Thanks so much all. Really great to hear all your positive experiences! Fingers crossed I can make it happen too. As I'm trying for a vbac the midwives won't induce me (apart from a membrane sweep) so Hopfully this 9 pound boy decides to make an appearance sooner rather then later!

And also because you know, soooo over being pregnant. Currently admiring my sexy cankles as I type 😂😩🙄

I'm sure you'll be fine, Gingerspice. Many people have spontaneous vaginal deliveries with big babies. Some say they are easier because they have more power to do their bit during labour; I don't know how true that is.

I had an induced vbac (10 days late) with DC3 who was just under 10lbs. I found it easier than labour with DC1 who was just under 7lbs. DC2 was also a breech elcs. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your input and also for checking in!!! Your advice was super helpful and calming leading up to labor!

My son was born 12 days ago! (9 days past his due date) He was 8 pounds 3 in the end so yes.. many of you were right! The ultrasound totally overshot!

Unfortunately, although I did eventually go into labor naturally, I ended up with an emergency c-section after all, as his heart rate was dropping with my contractions. It was pretty scary and my little baba was in the NICU for 3 days. BUT made a full recovery (and my recovery has been smooth too) so we are home and settling into our new life (which is lovely and heart melting and utter chaos - parenting two kids is mental)

So onwards and upwards from here. It wasn't the birth experience I hoped for but now I really couldn't care less. Just happy and grateful to have a health baby! Thanks all!
