How long can we drive?

Hi ladies

just wondering as i am working up to my 36th week of PG, are there any laws about how long we can drive for? Someone suggested to me today that maybe the insurance company doesn't cover you after so many weeks. I have heard it is not good to drive 6 weeks before you are due but i could really do with working up to 36 weeks providing i still feel comfortable behind the wheel. Anyone know what the rules are if there are any??

I was still driving up until the day I had each of my babies. I actually drove my car to the garage on the day I was due with No 1 as it needed a service.

I'm not aware of any problems with driving in late pregnancy - it's mainly down to your personal preference/comfort. I would have gone stir-crazy if I hadn't carried on going out to toddler groups with DD1 and DS1 when I was pregnant with DD2 (and she was 16 days late!!)

I drove up till the day I went into hospital. A friend had to stop though because she was short and couldn't reach the steering wheel. So long as you can drive/reach everything I can't see a problem- (so long also as you're not in labour i spose)

I passed my test when i was nearly 8 months pregnant and then drove round till the end in a mini
(Usually with my sis who was also pregnant)

OMG, never heard that. When I was 11 days overdue I stropped off into town at 9am, had my first "have to sit down" contraction in Books etc. at 12:30, worked out they were 30 mins apart, so drove home! (I'd been in labour since 5am but was in denial!). By the time I got home I started timing them - 12 minutes, and I was in hospital by 3pm (dp drove this time). I know that driving in labour is naughty, but it was only early labour!

I drove myself to hospital in labour at 36 weeks. He was born 4 weeks early.

I stopped driving at about 30 wks cos it was just too uncomfortable. DD had her foot rammed right into my top left hand rib and it was agony. just writing this is putting all ideas of no. 2 right out of my head.
