FGR & Placental insufficiency - please tell me your positive stories.

We were diagnosed with the above on Friday. I have previously had a baby born small for gestation. Non of this was picked up in that pregnancy 13 years ago.

HC 3rd centile
Femur 5th centile
Right placental artery at 30% efficiency notches seen.

I am 21+2 today. I had bloods to check for infection on Friday. No results for 1.5 weeks when we're booked in for rescan and an appointment with the consultant.

I am so stressed out its unreal. I don't think the baby is viable until 24 weeks and am constantly looking for signs of my placenta failing. It's making me ill.

Please tell me something positive.

This happened to me at 30+6. When he could wear clothes clothes I bought him a little jumper with a small giraffe telling a larger giraffe that one day he'd grow tall. He's 16 just after Christmas and towers above me! Best wishes to you.

I had similar picked up about 30 weeks. For me I had monitoring every second day and scans weekly. They were happy enough to let her go to 36 weeks and then thought better out than in.

I had FGR with my "little" twin - femur length was below 2.5 centile - more like 1st centile. In the end I had a placental abruption and twins were born at 34 weeks. Little twin was perfectly

Sweetheart, breathe. Do you have Facebook. There is a group called IUGR support group UK and there are dozens (if not hundreds) of parents who have found out baby is smaller than expected at around the same time as you, and have delivered bang on 500g. Honestly, you’d be amazed! These little babies, are such fighters.

I had a small baby, although this was picked up much later on, she was 5lb at 37 weeks, so my story might not be helpful to you. But if you can I’d recommend joining that group, there are a lot of other parents who have been where you are now and can tell you their experiences

I do have Facebook, I will have a look for that group thankyou. My baby is approx 350g so that's promising if she can make 500g

@CanIHaveAHolidayPlease don’t lose faith. Baby is 350g at 21 weeks thats pretty good! You’ll see from the group a lot of babies didn’t get til 500g til a lot later.

There is divided evidence about whether diet works, some say not at all, some say yes but I’ve read a study about milk intake in the 3rd trimester helping fetal growth and some people (mainly in the states) rave about something called the brewers diet

Yes.
Both of mine were IUGR due to pre eclampsia.
Both weighed around 5lbs when delivered at 36 weeks.

My 5lb 4oz first born is almost 18, nearly 6 feet tall, head stuck in my fridge looking for food while I type this.
My second 5lb baby is a maths genius who blows me away with pride daily.
So, yes, no consequences here!
By the way, I was home breast feeding within 48 hours of birth with them both!
Take comfort, there’s every chance baby will be fine.

My eldest was severe IUGR and weighed 4lb 3 at 36 weeks. We did do a week in NICU but she is now a highly energetic 5 year old with no obvious side effects. If baby will hang on in there for a bit it can be fine.

In fact my IUGR baby’s sister was born the other side of 30 weeks for different reasons at 2lb 7 and appears to be unscathed by it aged 2, these tiny babies are amazing.

I am 25 weeks pregnant and there were concerns over my babies femur length which was on the 3rd percentile, all other measurements were ok.

I have notching also on both sides. I have growth scans booked in for 28, 32 & 36 weeks. The waiting in between scans I don't like as if love to know how he is doing now as I've not had a scan since 20 weeks

Thankyou for your time. I will look into diet advice. My midwife advised there's nothing special I can eat but I'm open to suggestions so thankyou xx
